I can't wait to see this, I might have to order HBO just for it. Give her the Emmy now. Ive been itching to watch it again. I 'borrowed' a Samsung LED TV from best buy this past week and just took it back Friday. I forgot about it, and instead went and rented a bunch of movies. Guess ill be watching it on the regular tv. Efan said: Storywise, I thought the musical was better. But don't get me wrong; I REALLY enjoyed this movie and am so impressed with both actresses. However, the coda at the end (before the credits) where Big Edie tells Little Edie to go to the premiere--that rang false to me, and that kind of sums up my big problem with the movie. The material didn't rise to the talent. And not only the amazing talent of the actresses--the makeup artists and set designers knocked it out of the park on this one.
But I should also say that I have had way too many cocktails at this point. What does my drunk ass know? Maybe I should wait to see what I think of the movie tomorrow. That was my take too: Ms.Barrymore so immersed herself into the role of Little Edie, it was scary. Both women were such complex characters one tends to think the screenwriter(s) appeared to overwhelmed by the subject(s)... that's complete understandable. When I watch "Grey Gardens" (the documentary), I still pick up little newances that I didn catch the first time about their relationship and lives. Still overall it was pretty good film. | |
