Today was a very relaxed day, despite the fact that I spent it with my nephews and family at the Stuttgart Spring Festival.
We rode a bunch of crazy ass rides, and had a blast. I'm sunburned and tired as hell, so I think I'll curl up to a nice book and read on the patio. My nephews hate having their pictures taken

Imago said: I've only been here a few days and I already love it. For those of my friends on facebook, I'll post a bunch more photos, but all I can say is I love it here. The first two pictures are from a charming little town near Stuttgart called 'Calw', and the last picture is outside a Chinese Restaurant in Sembach, Germany--nothing special, but I have a lot of fond memories of that time in my life when I was in the Air Force. Semback Air Force base is now 'shut down' and there is only a skeleton admin crew there. We drove around the base and it was a walk through memory lane, but also eerie. It was like that movie 28 days later where that one dude wakes up and finds himself alone in London. There wasn't movement almost anywhere on the base, even though the grounds were still being maintained for some reason. Anyways, Stuttgart is beautiful, vibrant and upbeat. The clubs here are great, the resturants are nice, and....Turkish Germans lawd ...more to CUM later....

OK, for you germans here, I have a question.
AND please don't think I'm being insulting or anything like that. But are Germans largely unaffected by the smell of body oder? I noticed when I used to live in Kaiserslaughtern that the nightclubs, on hot evenings, would smell of body oder. Indeed many of the Germans we would be surrounded by, would smell of body oder. The oder wasn't due to lack of bathing or bad hygiene at all. But it appeared they didn't wear deodorant--ironically they did wear cologne/perfumes. On the subway or train, I'll be sitting there and I'll smell body oder around me, but it doesn't seem to affect anybody else. Moreover, I've just gotten used to smelling it, and it doesn't really bother me anymore. But it's not like I'm immune to the smell. I can smell it--I just don't get grossed out by it. So, not to make fun or anything---is this normal? That body oder is just accepted in Germany? And as I said, it's not due to bad hygiene. As a matter of fact, several of the Germans I've interacted with here have American looking teeth (unnaturally white, straight, and perfect--which is not something I'm used to seeing in Europeans). Overall, my impression of Germans is that they posses alot of personality traits similar to Americans. Where I've gotten used to, and very much love, the politeness I witnessed in England and Wales, Germans are much more like Americans. If there's something they don't like, or if the service is bad, at least in Stuggart, Germans will not hesitate to say something. Also, they seem to be much more image/body conscious than folks in England/Wales. Anyways, I digress. Tell me about the body oder thing.

My on the whole BO thing...
I found the same thing when I lived there and after living there for 5 years I chalk it up to population density. There are HELLA people in any given city over there and they're not all spread out. Their concept of personal space is waaaay different from ours... on the train there are people all up in yo grill, constantly!! There are also plenty of folks that bathe every couple of days because hot water is actually pretty expensive over there... That's why lot's of older apartments have these water pre-heaters and you actually bathe, not shower, bathe. It's different to say the least. there's more but I'm tired of writing about this right now... A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon
