Ottensen

*"The Omen"

*My babysitter sneaking off to play "hootchie coo" with a visiting friend while she was supposed to be watching us! Bitch burnt up my Jiffy Pop popcorn that day

*"The Rose"

*People attacking our house because we were the first black family that integrated our all white the neighborhood, Mama and Daddy standing were alone and armed on the porch for a bloody "Summer of Sam/Do the Right Thing" kind of night. I became used to the sound of gunshots that week, with every attack on the house, every attempted robbery. Our house was loaded with weaponry like Ft. Friggin' Knox. It wasn't the guns that bothered me, it was the circulstances in which they had to be used. My parents were southern and knew how to use guns to hunt for food. This urban racial warfare shit was an uglier, more terrifying animal altogether

*Drunk relatives at whichever family wedding, reunion, or funeral til somebody ended up rolling on the floor for no apparent reason lol mad

*Don't know if it counts, but there was some messed up reading on my part as a kid. I think I read Nabacov's "Lolita" and some jacked up prose form biography of Billie Holiday by the time I was 11 or 12( I got it from my new neghbor who's hippie-ish school teacher mom had just moved them down the street) .All that pedophilia in Lolita with Delores, and old boy shooting up her new dude in the end, and then reading about Billie and her scarred up arms, cuffed to her hospital bed cause she was still getting high on the sly, coke falling out her nose...yeah that mess kinda jacked me up neutral |

My mother's penchant for horror movies. I spent my entire childhood avoiding my parent's bedroom on saturday afternoons because mommy was always watching some stupid crap on Channel 43, where the lady was trapped in the asylum or house and then they all attackd her at the end and chopped her up into a bloody mess. It's like damn, there were no happy endings in 70's slasher films. hmm

I tended to see other stuff as a kid, like visions of neighbors or faces of the recently deceased. Especially when my grandfather died. Saw that dude everywhere... Seriously.

My oldest daughter was like that when she was little.

She knew who deceased relatives were when she saw their pictures, and she told me once that my grandmother had fallen and gotten hurt. I called and sure enough, she was at the hospital.

Yeah, to some extent, it´s something that´s stayed with me. My mom has "it," too. I dream places and people I later visit for the first time or meet. In Christianity, it's known as a prophetic gift. It still spooks me out a bit when I pray about something random that someone hasn't told me about, and it turns out to be dead on. But, I'm glad to use it for good. lol
