Would you live on a 34' yacht? I have the opportunity to lease as a rental a yacht.
In the San Francisco Bay. So should I do it, or stay on dry land? I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

That seems a bit small to live in. If it was 34 meters, I'd say yes.
Then again, I never lived on a boat, so I can't really say.

Then again, I never lived on a boat, so I can't really say. I knew a guy who lived on a canal in amsterdam, it was basically one room, kitchenette with adjoining bathroom, it was pretty comfortable even though it couldn't have been more than 5m long

[Edited 4/13/09 21:31pm] I want to, my best friend is trying to talk me out of it. He's going to look at it tomorrow along with some apartments for me. I want to do it just because it's such a unique opportunity. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I'm moving this weekend so we should know before then. I've already paid for a credit check on an apartment but I can grab the boat as early as tomorrow.
I'm leaning toward taking your advice. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

In a heartbeat!!!
I sail semi-regularly and it's THE BEST! 34' is actually a very decent size for that, actually roomy if you're solo... only thing I would watch for is the difference in the type of noise you'll be dealing with. I'm talking foghorns, seagulls constantly and the clang/thwap of everybody's rigging. If you can live beyond that kind of background noise it will be heaven. If you can live small and not need to cook big meals you're golden. Love camping? It's like that only for months on end... I'd do it in a second but with a wife and 2 kids we'd need an awfully big boat! doitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoit A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon

When did you have a hubby? All you others say Hell Yea!!

Why not? Just structure the lease so that if you really don't like living on the boat, you can buy your way out early.

The tides should be too but I'd imagine it's a rockier ride at high tide (whend docked.) Humidity - not good for the laptop or IPod . . . Watery grave - yeah, thought about that. Didn't consider it sinking . . . . I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

No. I sent my best friend to look at it. Haven't heard back yet. He doesn't have a cell phone. He's probably hanging out waiting on traffic to die down. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

COOL CHANGE If there's one thing in my life that's missing It's the time I spend alone Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters There's lots of those friendly people Showin me ways to go And I never want to lose your inspiration Time for a cool change... I know that it's time for a cool change Now that my life is so pre-arranged I know that it's time for a cool change Well I was born in the sign of water And it's there that I feel my best The albatross and the whales they are my brothers It's kind of a special feeling When you're out on the sea alone Starin' at the full moon like a lover Time for a cool change... I know that it's time for a cool change Now that my life is so prearranged I know that it's time for a cool change Well I've never been romantic And sometimes I don't care I know it may sound selfish But let me breathe the air If there's one thing in my life that's missing It's the time that I spend alone Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters It's kind of a special feeling When you're out on the sea alone Staring at the full moon like a lover Time for a cool change... I know that it's time for a cool change Now that my life is so prearranged I know that it's time for a cool change Little River Band I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.
