China’s Terracotta Army Anyone seen this? Great stuff:
High’s Terracotta exhibit draws second-largest crowds The High Museum of Art’s “The First Emperor: China’s Terracotta Army” drew more than 400,000 during its five-month run that concluded with a sell-out day Sunday, making it the second most popular exhibit in the Atlanta institution’s history. The only show that has outdrawn “First Emperor” at the Peachtree Street museum was the inaugural exhibitions in the ongoing Louvre Atlanta exchange between the High and the Paris museum, which attracted 446,000 over 11 months in 2006-‘07. Featuring 15 terracotta warriors among 100 works, “First Emperor’s” artifacts date back 2,000 years to Qin Shihuangdi, who build a 22-square-mile underground kingdom that he intended to rule in the afterlife. The army of 7,000 terracotta warriors has fascinated the world since its discovery in 1974, and the High exhibit represented one of the most significant groupings from the archeological find to be loaned to the U.S. Final “First Emperor” attendance figures are expected Monday afternoon. That sounds awesome. I've seen pictures of them and I would love to see them in person. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! That would actually be worth going to Atlanta to see.
I'd also love to see them in person. I'm firmly planted in denial | |
