in this day and age of equal responsibility/opportunity...should a man really have to lose half of his personal wealth because a marriage didn't work out? do you think the man should always have to move out a joint-owned house? is it even worth getting married now anyways?

A co-worker of mine got screwed during his divorce many years ago. His wife didn't work..... she ended up getting the house. Now, she re-married and moved out of that house. The kids didn't want to live with her at her new husband's house. The kids wanted to live with the real dad so now he has his kids and renting the house, the one he use to own, from her.

I have mixed feelings on this. She was a stay at home mom and that is a job within itself but should she have gotten the house???? They should of sold it and split the money.

Oh, and she was the one that left the marriage. She ended up marrying again after a year. He suspects she was cheating on him and left him for some other guy.

The laws still assume the marriage breaks up because of the man! Which is porbably right in 1955!
