The only thing might be that you're an Anne Rice fan. It just depends on how "flexible" you are regarding vampire lore. I read the Twilight books first, then the Sookie books. What's crazy is I never considered myself "into" vampire books, but now that I've read two series centered around vampires, I want to read the Anne Rice books How ass-backward is that??? The Twilight and Sookie books are very easy/light reading. They are a totally guilty pleasure for me. I'd start w/ "Twilight". (JMHO) Will do!!!! My cousin is all about the books. She wants to go to Forks so bad. heehee. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! First Beach Lake Cresent Hoh Rainforest As soon as I've recovered from my Nazi personal trainer session and get the pictures off my camera I'll get them posted. The town of Forks is pretty unremarkable, but the area it's in. [Edited 4/20/09 16:04pm] I'm firmly planted in denial

I started a running clinic a month ago and I'm running 3 times a week, I start a new yoga class in a couple of weeks as well and I'm obsessively tracking and counting my calories every day. It's working so far (I've lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks). I can go overboard, though. I'm afraid I'm becoming a little too obsessed. wow Carrie, i was wondering how the running was going. The Twilight and Sookie books are very easy/light reading. They are a totally guilty pleasure for me. I'd start w/ "Twilight". (JMHO) The Anne Rice books are not going to be very easy/light reading. The prose is often very flowery and purple. If you do end up reading them, I'd suggest not going past "Memnoch The Devil" or maybe even "The Vampire Armand"... they go downhill pretty quickly after that, though "Blood And Gold" has its moments. By the time you get to the last book, "Blood Canticle" you're going to be really irritated. Also, don't be discouraged by the first part of "The Vampire Lestat". After reading "Interview" I immediately started "Lestat" and I think it took me 10 tries and 10 years to get past the first 100 pages. But it, and "Queen Of The Damned" are sort of a part 1 and part 2 of the same story, and they are great fun! So I'd go up through Memnoch, and then switch over to the Mayfair Witches books ("The Witching Hour" which is REALLY excellent and maybe her best book, and "Lasher" and "Taltos").... be warned though, they crossover with the last two vampire books ("Blackwood Farm" and "Blood Canticle"), and those are only to be read if you get hardcore addicted. Some of her others non-witch/non-vampire stuff is really great as well, especially "The Feast Of All Saints" and "The Mummy". "Cry To Heaven" and "Servant Of The Bones" have their moments too. Not sure yet if I'd recommend the "Christ the Lord" series yet, as I haven't been able to start the second book yet. I liked the first one alright, but it's in her modern style that is a lot more simplistic and straightforward, like the more recent Vampire books, rather than the style that launched her to fame and greatness. So, anyway, there's my tangential, unsolicited advice, if you want to read Anne Rice

So, anyway, there's my tangential, unsolicited advice, if you want to read Anne Rice That's actually what I was hoping for. I've often thought that the Twilight and Sookie books were great stories written by fair-to-middlin' writers. That's exactly why I thought I'd read the Anne Rice books. And thank you for that tangential, unsolicited advice. I'd heard her work ran hot and cold with her fans. It's good to get an overview. I'm firmly planted in denial
