Victim Wounded In Shootout With Robbers At Gas Station DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A holdup victim was wounded early Thursday morning after he pulled his own gun and shot it out with a group of armed thieves at a DeKalb County gas station.
Channel 2 Action News reporter Ryan Young was at the crime scene at a Citgo station on Wee Kirk Road just minutes after the gunfight. DeKalb County Police Department detectives at the scene told him, victim Carlis Franks, 21, was approached by a group of men outside the gas station. After demanding money, one of the men pulled a gun and started shooting. Franks grabbed his own handgun and returned fire. He was hit three times, according to police. The robbers escaped in a red vehicle. Franks is expected to recover from his wounds. Police believe the shootout was caught on the store's security cameras. | |
