Anaheim Angels Pitcher killed in car crash Sorry, I won't ever refer to them as Los Angeles Angels.
Normally I could care less about sports but this is my hometown, well next door town, baseball team. Lots of good memories connected to The Anaheim Angels. Thought I'd post this story for those who would care: http://www.nj.com/sports/...r_nic.html Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart killed in car crash
by Star-Ledger Staff Thursday April 09, 2009, 12:01 PM Jeff Gross/Getty Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a car accident Thursday morning, hours after making his fourth career major league start. Los Angeles Angels rookie pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a car crash Thursday morning in Fullerton, Calif., a hospital official said. University of California, Irvine Medical Center spokesman John Murray says Adenhart died Thursday morning, shortly after 6 a.m. PT, after undergoing surgery. Adenhart was one of three people who were killed in the accident, which involved three vehicles. Two died at the scene of the crash and another person is seriously injured, according to reports. The driver of the third vehicle was not seriously hurt. The vehicle Adenhart was driving in was hit by a minivan that ran a red light shortly after midnight PT. The driver of the minivan fled on foot, but was taken into custody about a mile away, police said. The condition of the driver in police custody is unknown. Adenhart, 22, started for the Angels in Wednesday night's 6-4 loss to the Oakland Athletics but did not factor in the decision. He allowed seven hits over six scoreless innings, struck out five and walked three. It was his fourth career major league start. According to Baseball America, the right hander, who was selected in the 14th round of the 2004 amateur draft by the Angels out of Williamsport High School in Williamsport, Md., was the top prospect in the team's farm system. He was pushed into the starting rotation after a strong showing in spring training and due to a number of injuries to the Angels' veteran starting pitchers. Terrible. May his family, friends and fans find some peace 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Really sad, fortunately they got the person who killed him. This is the 2nd Hit and Run here in L.A. recently. The first was a USC student and her friend. She died, and her friend is still in the Hospital. The worst part of this accident , the body of the male victim was still on the windshield when he got hit, so one of the passengers got out , dumped his body on the side of the road and took off ! Fortunately, the driver is now in custody, but the passenger is still out there...bastard . L.A. has the worst drivers in the country.

Another sad story.
Just yesterday was the funeral of that girl that was crossing the street in front of USC, and was also hit by a drunk driver. Her family was from Santa Barbara, and they had a huge story on the funeral in today's local paper.

More families devastated because of some drunk asshole who turns a car into a two-ton bullet. And to make it worse, the dude fled the scene before he was caught. IMO, we need a zero tolerance policy for this shit - SERIOUS jail time and a lifetime ban on driving. How many more people have to die before this country gets the message?

Update from NY Daily News:
Andrew Gallo charged with 3 counts of murder in crash that killed Angels pitcher NicK Adenhart
BY Nancy Dillon Daily News West Coast Bureau Chief Friday, April 10th 2009, 12:56 PM LOS ANGELES - Convicted drunk driver Andrew Gallo has been booked on three counts of murder in the Thursday crash that claimed the life of Angels rookie Nick Adenhart. Gallo was denied bail and is due to be arraigned Monday, cops said. The horrific hit-and-run in Fullerton, Calif., instantly killed a 20-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Mitsubishi carrying Adenhart as well as a male passenger, 25. Adenhart, 22, died four hours later in surgery. Ranked by Baseball America as the Angels' top prospect, the right-hander had just pitched six scoreless innings against the Oakland Athletics from the mound at Angel Stadium in Anaheim Wednesday night. "These were good kids celebrating Mr. Adenhart's first game of the year. He did such a great job," Cpl. Scott Moore of the Fullerton police told the Daily News. "In all my years doing this job, this is one of the most tragic things I've seen." Moore said Gallo was booked for felony drunk driving, felony hit and run, three counts of murder, three counts of vehicular manslaughter and four counts of committing bodily injury during a crime. Gallo, 22, appeared drunk when cops nabbed him more than a mile from the crash scene early Thursday, Moore said. Results from a blood test are pending. The Orange County District Attorney is expected to file formal charges soon. "We should be receiving the case today, and then we'll review to determine charges," DA spokeswoman Farrah Emami said Friday. Gallo was driving on a suspended license at the time of the crash, cops said. Court documents show he pleaded guilty to drunk driving in May 2006 after a December 2005 arrest in neighboring San Bernardino County. As part of his plea deal, Gallo agreed that he could be charged with murder if he continued to drive drunk and killed somebody. Adenhart's grieving parents have thanked the Angels for making the Maryland native's dreams come true during his short life. "He lived his dream and was blessed to be part of an organization comprised of such warm, caring and compassionate people," his father Jim and mother Janet said in a statement. "He will always be in everyone's hearts forever." Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was considered the team's top prospect before dying in a horrific car accident. Andrew Gallo, who was convicted of drunk driving in 2006, was charged of three counts of muder in connection with the Adenhart crash. http://www.nydailynews.co...tcher.html

^^ That's what i'm saying.
I hope the killer gets the chair. Do they have the death penalty in Cali? • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.
