Favourite cinematic composition What is your favourite piece of cinematic music? Not song or full score, Just one single piece of music from a film. Why so?
Today mine is 'Corynorhinus' from Batman begins. What's yours? Also, the music must have been composed solely for the film. Adagio for strings, for example, is not allowed for this reason. | |

The score in Rain Man is definately one of my faves. Esp. the main theme. There's a certain tranquility in it that really gets me.
Also the score for Shawshank Redemption. The end title. Omg, so pretty.

I saw "Munich" with a friend of mine. As the end credits started to roll and we were walking out, I heard this piece begin to play. I told her we'd have to wait til the piece was over before we could leave.

"Kimball Dyes His Hair" from The Fugitive. This song rocks!!! That's Wayne Shorter on the soprano sax. He had a short, pensive piece that closed out the first side of the project. If I find it online, I'll post it. Brilliant. | |

Terence Blanchard is a beast. This trumpeter and composer has done tons of music for Spike Lee, and does an awesome job of mixing the breadth of Copland with the blues of Miles. Faves from this include "The Old Days," "Betty's Theme" and "Going to Mecca." and 
I cannot stress how wonderful this album is. The compositions are plaintive and mournful without being tired or dreary. Great, great project. | |

i love the music from the Truman Show also The Third Man has to get a mention Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Herrmann was a genius. A lot of his stuff reminds me of Claire Fisher's -- especially where the weird harmonies come into play. | |
