What is the scariest movie of all time?

I don't care how old this movie is or how many times I have seen this, this movie always scares the "hell" out of me!! I can't believe it came out in 1973!
Has anyone seen this for the first time recently?

I agree this movie is spooky! It's a movie that is NOT allowed in my home! I saw it at a very very young age, at the drive in no less, and it has scarred me for life.

I rank The Exorcist #2 on my list.

THIS is #1, IMO:

THIS was the first horror film that ever made me think that something like this can AND could be a true story for anyone.

THIS is #3 on my list, since it did scare the hell out of me during childhood:

See, I thought the movies were weak, but the BOOK scared the be-jesus out of me! reading shocked
Stephen King almost made U believe vampires could exist. nod

That, "Amityville Horror" and "It". I have a crazy imagination when I read, so the books do more damage than the films.

I was more freaked out by

than "The Exorcist". I watched all of them recently... I was up until almost 4am! eek

Heck yeah!! The Exocrist is so scary, I have never seen the movie...ever and don't plan on it.

I just remember my parents telling my sister and I to go play in our rooms because they were about to watch an R-rated movie on HBO, this was before we had multiple channels. Anyway, I could hear to movie from downstairs....and the sounds scared the hell out of me!! So you know if the sounds were scary, you know the actual pictures were going to be scary.

I don't watch these. Getting frightened for fun sounds pointless to me.
Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity

I've never seen "The Exorcist" either. All I know is that it features a little girl getting possessed by the devil, then she starts playing with her vaggie with a crucifix and then she vomits pea soup. I don't understand what that's all about. Why have the devil spew up everywhere? confuse shrug

Halloween was the scariest thing I've ever seen. When Jamie Lee Curtis went into the bedroom, and all the tombstones were arranged there, I lost it.

And when she stabbed him but didn't shoot him and then went over to the couch to cry, I actually screamed out in the theater, "He's not dead! Go shoot him now!" and I wasn't trying to be funny.

The other movie that affected me was "Jaws". I grew up on the water and after I saw "Jaws", it was about 3 months before I could get in the water and go skiing without being SURE a shark was about to bite off my lower body.

My teenage brother took me to see jaws when it came out - I was young

I then had issues sitting down on the toilet because i thought the head that popped outta the boat was going to pop out rolleyes kids are so silly

anyway - took me over a month to work through my fear

And to think the Exorcist was made before CGI & other computer special effects.
Even with today's technology, no one can make or has made a movie that has come close to the Exorcist.

I think "The Ring" needs to be mentioned!!
