Has anyone ever seen Arsenio do standup comedy?

I've never seen him do it, but I think that is how he got his start. I remember when he had his show, he used to talk about the times he toured with Patti Labelle opening for her. It must have been in the late 70s or early 80s when he did that. Not sure, though.

I also remember seeing him on The Tonight Show doing a stand up routine before he got the gig on Fox replacing the Joan Rivers latenight show.

It's funny, I've never met a single person who has actually saw him perform standup. Keenan won't say a word about it and they were on the same circuit.

Yep, he used to do all the comedy clubs before he became famous and even opened for Patti Labelle for awhile.

Maybe he was one of those comedians that concentrated on doing standup at one particular place. I don't think he had to work as hard as some of the ones after him (STeve Harvey, Bernie Mac, etc.). Most of the guys that became comedians in the 80s and 90s spent a lot of time on the road and playing the "chittlin'" circuit. Steve Harvey and Bernie Mac damn-near lived in Dallas in the late 80s and early 90s. Steve actually lived here and had a club here.

only to himself and his family, and maybe eddie murphy. I never found his standup to be funny.
