Are you an Introvert or Extrovert

What's your personality type? For Psychology fans, you may be familiar with the Myers Briggs Type Indicator based on Carl Jung's personality type. The link is the shortened version of the test. Below is the link for an informal version with four sets of characterstics to choose from. Post your results.

http://www.personalitypat...ntory.html

I took a longer version for an assessment class and got ISTP. The I never changes for me, but I've had different results before. It's interesting to see how it changes over time. In society tho Introverts get no love. We are almost looked upon with disdain as if some folks don't know what to do with us.
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

Every time I've taken the test I come out different. The I and the S are fairly consistent, but the rest run about 50/50.

I am sort of like Prince on this one. When it comes to public speaking or addressing people as a group, I am a total extrovert. However, I am not quite as comfortable in the one to ones.

This will be interesting because I used to be such an introvert and didn't realize it until I willed myself to come out of my shell
that I think I traumatized myself and become so self-conscious and now am trying to get to a comfortable spot.
I know that doesn't make sense, but it does to me.

Ok, I'll take the test.

INFP

For INFPs the dominant quality in their lives is a deep-felt caring and idealism about people. They experience this intense caring most often in their relationships with others, but they may also experience it around ideas, projects, or any involvement they see as important. INFPs are often skilled communicators, and they are naturally drawn to ideas that embody a concern for human potential. INFPs live in the inner world of values and ideals, but what people often first encounter with the INFP in the outer world is their adaptability and concern for possibilities.

AND

Usually gentle and kind, they are intense and passionate about their values and deeply held beliefs, which they share with trusted friends. Because of their discreet manner, their enthusiasm may not be apparent. They are sensitive to others' pain, restlessness or general discomfort and strive to find happiness, balance and wholeness for themselves in order to help others find joy, satisfaction and plenitude. They are deeply empathetic.

They live life in an intently personal fashion, acting on the belief that each person is unique and that social norms are to be respected only if they do not hinder personal development or expression. They strive to adhere to their own high personal moral standards and are particularly sensitive to inconsistencies in their environment between what is being said and what is being done. Empty promises of adhering to something they value – such as environmental causes or human rights - set off an inner alarm and they may transform themselves into modern day Joan of Arcs.

They are quietly persistent in raising awareness of cherished causes and often fight for the underdog in quiet or not-so-quiet ways. In a team, they will raise issues of integrity, authenticity, and good or bad, and may to opt out if the team refuses to address the questions raised.

They are usually tolerant and open-minded, insightful, flexible and understanding. They live for the understanding of others and feel deeply grateful when someone takes the time to get to know them personally. They have good listening skills, are genuinely concerned, insightful, and usually avid readers. At their best, they inspire others to be themselves.

I've been taking the MBTI for about 15 years and I'm always an ISTJ and I think it's pretty accurate.

ISTJ (Introversion, Sensing, Thinking, Judgment)

According to Keirsey,[7] Inspectors are careful and thorough in examining people and institutions. Composing about 6 to 10 percent of the population, Inspectors are decisive in practical affairs. These guardians of institutions are perhaps best described as dependable: ISTJs are people of their word, intent on preserving social and family values. At home and at work, Inspectors reliably examine the people and products that fall under their responsibility—unobtrusively ensuring uniform quality and demanding that certain standards of conduct are maintained.

In both their professional and personal lives, individuals of this type are rather quiet and serious. ISTJs are extraordinarily persevering and dependable. The thought of dishonoring a contract would appall a person of this type. When they give their word, they give their honor. ISTJs can be counted on to conserve the resources of the institution they serve and bring to their work a practical point of view. They perform their duties without flourish or fanfare; therefore, the dedication they bring to their work can go unnoticed and unappreciated.

While not directly seeking leadership positions, ISTJs are often placed in such roles. They build a reputation for reliable, stable, and consistent performance that causes others to select them to lead. ISTJs use their past experience and their factual knowledge in their decision making.

For the ISTJ, love means commitment, steadiness, and consistency. ISTJs expect themselves and their mates to be responsible, practical, and dependable. When in a relationship, they behave appropriately for what the situation or their role demands. For example, if the relationship is in the courting stage, the ISTJ will exhibit courting behaviors, such as giving boxes of candy, red roses and presents.
