Warning: Stay FAR away from Peridex mouth rinse!!!

When I went to the dentist and told her about my itchy and bleeding gums, she gave me this stuff called Peridex that I was supposed to use twice a day. She wants to give me a deep scale in May, which I'm not going to. So I start using the stuff and my gums stopped itching and bleeding, but then my jaw started hurting. I kept using it think the side effects would just pass by. By the third day, the inside of my mouth behind my wisdom teeth became swollen and VERY painful. That night, my gums started bleeding around my back teeth. The next day, the piece of your mouth that connects to your jaw, that part was open and hanging off the back of my tooth, on the top and bottom of my mouth. I immediately quit using the shit. Then I started getting pains from my jaw up to my ear. I quit using it the end of last week. As a result, the back part of my jaw around my wisdom teeth are open, I have a HUGE scar on the left side of my mouth, it's horrible. I'm really thinking of taking possible legal action. This is fucking ridiculous. The dentist gives me this shit, and expects me to go back in May? After 4 years of wearing braces, now I have to deal with this fucking shit. So if ya'll come across that shit stay away from it! I googled the shit and come to find out it's not approved by the FDA or the ADA, and she gave it to me without a prescription.

Ummmm...if she gave you the actual rinse, she didn't need to give you a prescription. Her giving it to you was the prescription.

Doctors (or dentists) can't always foresee allergic reactions. If the reaction was that severe, why didn't you go back right away?

Peridex helps a lot of people. You've simply had an adverse reaction. Tell your doc, and he/she'll prescribe you something else.

Glad to hear you didn't slough off the gum problem.

Sounds like an allergic reaction or something. That's pretty horrifying though. I would go back there and let her know what happened.

Smooches;)

it sounds like you have an allergy to that product. you should have contacted your doctor once you started experiencing problems. I hope your mouth starts to feel better soon.
