Based on the constant theme of sexual threads in the GD forum, you'd think that all of the people here are a bunch of perverts who can't get enough lovin'. Just within the last two weeks alone, we've had threads about tits, ass, dick, favorite porn stars, milk in porn , and even what matters in porn. And you can find a number of YouTube-like porn sites that have extended porn scenes for every kink and fetish imaginable. It's not uncommon to find 30 to 45 minute sex scenes of just one single couple going about their sexual business.

But why is porn so hypnotic for a lot of people? There's not a whole lot of actual complex physical activity involved in the sex act; just a bunch of kissing, touching, caressing, licking of body parts, usually followed by some oral sexual stimulation of genitalia, ultimately followed by the insertion of the penis into the vagina or anus and the thrusting of that same penis in and out of the orifice until one or both partners climax in orgasmic bliss. That's pretty much it. Sure, there are some variations in positions during the act, and a lot of happy moaning and screaming, and an occasional weird kink or event during the act, but otherwise it's pretty basic.

So why are people (men in particular) so transfixed by watching pornographic images? Why are we so ingrained to watch people having sex for 30, 40 minutes, even hours at a time? We don't watch people doing other things for hours at a time; how exciting is it to watch a couple eating breakfast at the kitchen table? How captivating is it to watch a couple go fishing? How hot and bothered does one get when they see a couple cleaning around the house? Frankly, I'm sure most people would be bored to tears if they had to watch people do simple but mundane things for 45 minutes straight; heck, people can get bored actually watching a 45 minute car chase with explosions or even a scary movie with a homicidal maniac attacking an unsuspecting damsel in distress, but watch a couple having sex and a lot of us are ready to bust our nuts.

What is it about watching porn that is so hypnotic? I know that psychologists would say that porn appeals to the reptilian part of our brains that control our basic functions, but sleep is one of our reptilian functions as well, and while we may derive pleasure from watching a loved one sleeping peacefully in bed, we don't really care to watch anyone else sleeping for extended periods. You don't find too many threads about cleaning, cooking, or shopping on GD, but there are so many threads about our favorite "stars" doing something sexually that everyone else does (or at least should do), so what makes them different? I hope someone can enlighten me about this.

Everybody loves sex that's why... It feels great (when done right), there may be an emotional connection between the two lovers (and in the case of porn maybe it's only financial...) and it's a great way to spend time with a person.

So watching it can be just as nice, plus, porn people often do things we normally might not, so we're either learning soemthing or just getting a thrill...
