I have two Macs, and a Dell laptop. They all run 24/7. I stream movies to my Apple TV (which runs all the time, only because I forget to put it to Standby) from one Mac. The other Mac syncs to the Apple TV, and I often times stream my iTunes from that syncing Mac through iTunes on my Dell when I'm in another room w/ my laptop. I didn't always leave my laptop on, but now....eh, I just leave it on and have the monitor shut off after 10 minutes or so. The Mac that streams movies is hooked directly to the 47" HDTV, so I can easily access it, and quickly, to add a movie or something on there. It's basically a storage computer in the living room (an old G3 Blue and White). My main Mac (a graphite G4) is what AppleTV syncs from, and what I stream FROM on my Dell when listening to music.
