What's ur Favorite Decade? If you could go back in time, which decade would you like to revisit? I'm partial to the future, but how can I forget the funky days of the past. I guess it's safe to call me a love child of the eighties. I grew up in the mtv generation, right around the time when RUN DMC was getting big and The beastie boy where known as the first white rappers, As I look back at the hands of time I can see just how specail the eighties where. Even though I grew up in the hood, I was asbolutely in love with Madonna and I secretly wished to be like her one day. Now that I'm older, I'm often finding myself listening to the funk grooves of the 70's, everything from the Ohio Players to Earth, wind and fire. The 70's where so cool, it's my favorite decade of all time. Everyone was so orginal and innovitive at the time, the only you could complain about was that the music was to good. My mother says I was born into the wrong generation. I should've been born around the same time she was, so that I can see just how cool the 70's actually where. I know you can never get enough of hearing about Studio 54, but I don't think to many people would disagree ... the 70's was one of the best decades, despite president Nixon election into the white house.

the 90s
I drank, graduated, became a raver ( ), dropped out of college, raved some more, attended my first Paisley shows, turned 21(drank more and raved less), and then kinna grew up a bit (but still had LOTS of fun)...wheee! good music, good friends and good times..it was a GREAT decade! I would just wanna make this a quick visit though, I'm much happier where I am NOW (edit schmedit) [This message was edited Thu Dec 5 14:52:06 PST 2002 by endorphin74]

Endorphin74 summed it up exactly for me.
The 90's were great all the way through, and I'd love to go back and recall that Brit Pop stuff and the excitemnet of Tarantino films coming out whilst enjoying my first alcohol induced vomitting. But then I'd race back to the present, which is, at the moment, full of happiness... -----------------------------------------

My favorite decade is the 80s. I still hold on to the memories me lived as a child of the 80s.

I'm not big on focusing on the past. I like now much better than then. But if I could revisit or experience a decade I would have to pick the 70's. Not cuz it's my favorite or anything but I already lived in the 80's and 90's and I know they were great. I only have vague memories of the 70's and I would've loved to be around while some of my favorite music was being made.

The 70s,the 70s,the 70s!
Man,I LOVED those days! Life was so much more "laid back" and alot of fun.We had better TV shows, better music, better everything.I was a kid through it all,but I was really enjoying myself back then.Funk music was at it's highest point.Soul music was at it's highest point. 'Saturday Night Fever',Good Times',Earth Wind & Fire, velvet posters, platform shoes,Afros,'Happy Days','The Brady Bunch',the pet rock,Parliament-Funkadelic,Gamble & Huff,'The Exorcist','Grease','Soul Train',the Bicentennial Celebration in 1976,President Carter, the Disco era,'Thank God It's Friday',Donna Summer,The Bee Gees,KC and The Sunshine Band,'Alice','Welcome Back Kotter','Schoolhouse Rock ("Lolly,Lolly,Lolly get your adverbs here!"),ELO,The Commodores,'The Jeffersons''Jaws',concept albums,Stevie Wonder, etc. It's all just so overwhelming! I am literally a 70s fanatic, and I actually feel sorry for those of you who missed out on this incredible decade

I have to go with the 90's. I was too young in the 80's to really experience things.
I'm hoping 2000 - 2010 will be the best! There's still so much more to do.

The music was THE BEST!!! EWF, Stevie, Sly, Tower of Power, - it was sooo fun, I was a kid in the 70's but at least I felt safe to play outside on my bike with the monkey handlebars and banana seat while I listened on my transistor radio to Me and Mrs. Jones or Brother Louie trying desperately not to get my poncho fringe caught in my bell ... aww the good ole days... let's not forget rushing home after school to watch The Partridge Family or H.R. Puff 'n stuff. How about The Jackson Five cartoon before Michael became a cartoon and American Bandstand all the while munching on penny candies like Mo Jo's, Pixie Stix, those wax tubes with the juice in them, those looonnnggg strings of licorice that you'd braid and then shove the whole thing in your mouth and almost choke because the thing would start unravelling sorry to ramble. great thread, brought back alot of great memories WHO ME?

i don't want to move backwards, rather forward. i don't want to visit the past...my best time of life is now, so i would like to visit the next 10 years...
but if i had to pick...i think i would of liked to see the 60's...so much happened then music wise, i would of loved to see a jimi hendrix show live...janis joplin...etc...plus the whole poet thing was exploding in frisco...i would of fit right in.

Speaking purely from a nostalgic standpoint, I would choose the 80s. That decade contained my 'wonder years', if you know what I mean, so therefore there are lots of sentimental reasons for the 80s being my favorite. And I absolutely LOVE 80s music. I even have a soft spot for many of the hideous 80s fashions. I'm glad I was the age I was in the 80s so I could experience what I did.
But, I've always had a fascination and love for the 60s, too. What a fascinating decade to live through, with all that was happening everywhere. I am a big fan of Warhol, and of the (later) beatnik & hippie counterculture, and I'd love to have had a chance to see some of that stuff firsthand. This site: http://www.yesterdayland.com is a good one if you feel like going down memory lane for a particular decade.
