NEW YORK CITY SKYLINE!!  I've got an opportunity to do a mural of New York's skyline...
 ...it's been years since my last big one..and i really would like to do it..
i don't have a precise size,yet..it will be on an inside wall..from mid-point up...and may cover 10 ' x 4' ..i have not settled on a design.. but i wouldn't mind advice.. although i didn't admit it to the person,''depend s on the size...etc.,'' when it comes to charging, i have no clue on this..ANYONE?? SO..... advice, ideas,suggestions, and pics if you have them,i need points of reference... 
and i'm asking non-specific... if you have an idea,suggestion, etc., i would like to hear it i'm willing to accept jokes too,as you would think i would have an idea,BUT.... i come to you all first ..  please....
help....for only a minimal input, you could help an artist...
i hope to be making updates.. and yes, they do want the twin towers in the skyline,as remembrance...  'why y'all trying to say goodbye? I didn't go anywhere, I'm right here, im all around you,always..'

Cool that sounds like great fun doing that. From my experience as a cabinet maker I find people just are'nt prepared to pay for what it would actually cost in hours. I've always struggled on how to price a job, it may be different in your line of work but I have always found that people want to commission people like you and me because of our skills but are not willing to really pay for it, they generally want something for nothing.
Your head should be buzzing with ideas, I know mine would be if I had that commission, get ya arse to a library and do some research, thats what I'd be doing. Sometimes Life is like the post...You just don't get it! | |

Worked in both for 4 years, and those buildings are missed. I used to call them the "two silver diamonds in the sky". Now that they're gone, the skyline will never be the same. Sometimes when you see them shown in movies from back in the 80s, it's a little eery just seeing them, knowing the tragedy that happened. By the way, they may not be calling the new building the "freedom towers" anymore, I've heard just yesterday on the news they are thinking about calling it "One World Trade Center" just like it's original address, but some want to include "Two World Trade Center" as well, but some citizens are bittersweet about naming it that, because it's a sad reminder of what happened, if they choose to use the original addresses as it's new name. | |

I would be looking at other artists and their styles and maybe it may give you inspiration for doing this commission. Try looking at Cezanne, Seurat, Degas, Monet, the list is endless, have a look at some more modern and possibly local artists, also try working with different materials/mediums, theres a local artist to me who mixes sand into his paint to add texture, it looks really good. Go to some art museums aswell as this could give you some good ideas. God I can feel myself getting excited for you ! I love this kind of stuff its great. Also don't forget to take photos of your work in progression, its good for you and could be interesting for the people who you're doing it for. Sometimes Life is like the post...You just don't get it! | |
