Can men and women truly ever be just friends ??

Yes. Although I've recently found that who you think may be your friend (a male) may have alterior motives.

However, I still do have some male friends that I am very close to and there aren't any other motives other than friendship.

I am learning to keep my eyes a little more open in this department though.

i can say "yes" 2 that, cuz i have a few guys friends that are strictly that: friends.

"friends with benefits" is strictly o-u-t in my book. nod

In my experience, I have always found girls to have alterior motives for wanting to be friends with me. dead

That's why I always ensure that I find all my girl friends pretty. mr.green

Okay maybe I should rephrase that and make it more pacific, can a single guy and a single female who both are straight ever be just friends smile ?

I believe that is possible sometimes, but the temptation for more will always be there.

Depends on how you define the word "friends"...

Can a man and woman have a relationship in which they don't sleep together and they don't start anything romantic??...Yep...

Most of my close friends have always been guys, but then the more I got to know them I learned they had other motives as well, it made the relationship a little odd and eventually the friendship decease, sad but true

Not very easily in my experience. One of my best male friends just professed his love for me not long ago and freaked me out. I don't see him that way at all, and now its just weird. I gotta stop being so damn fabulous...wink

My sister once told me that true friendships between men and women will never happen, because sooner or later one or the other will end up wanting "more", and it kills the chance for friendship...not sure if I agree with that or not, but your post reminded me of it... lol

Can this question really be answered if we don't know whether the guy and girl are physically attracted to one another? mr.green

Hmmm... if you were physically attracted to your female friend would you be able to be her friend... JUST friends, or would that be difficult for you to do?

Even if ur not physically attracted 2 a person you can grow 2 like that person, just because you got 2 know their personality... happened 2 me plenty of times.

I had this guy friend who I though was cute at first, but then I got to know his personality and he had the best personality in the world which made me dig him even more then just his looks... I was soo in love love

and he was gay sad

I agree! The personality makes the person, in my opinion.

Regarding the guy that you fell in love with... Poor you... sad

Well, I have always found my girl friends have come about because we have found each other physically attractive. We'll tend to remain friends for as long as we can make each other laugh despite whatever's happening around us.

I have never had any issues with being friends with any girl that I have found attractive, so long as they are worth being friends with.

So you are saying that you haven't been friends with a woman that you don't find physically attractive?

I agree with your last statement... and that goes for men and women for me.

I don't think I have ever been really close friends with any girl that I haven't found pretty initially. Like I said, we will only continue to be friends, if she's worth being friends with

Have you ever been friends with any guy whose face looked like the hairy backside of a rhinocerous? mr.green
