mice house fires- I have the OCD of double checking the stove to make sure it's off before leaving horror flicks halloween costumes static on a television and balloons especially when you're blowing them up, and they pop..i had one do that and it welted me from my forehead to just under my chin..i'm afraid to blow them up.. and light bulbs that blow out when you turn the light on,always scares me.. 'ubder' [Edited 3/25/09 17:28pm] Me too! I hate that! I had 2 light bulbs do that to me just recently. Scares the crap out of me and makes me go "Oooh!" RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

...And (another thread reminded me) getting my feet ripped off by escalators. [Edited 3/28/09 18:59pm] This is going to sound strange, but I cannot step on an escalator that is going down. I get dizzy, and it always seems like the steps are moving way too fast. I get real dizzy, and I worry about stepping on the crack between two steps, and falling down. What's even wackier is that I'm okay with going up the escalator, it's going down where I have a problem. Yeah, I know it's weird. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I get really freaked out by fish - especially dead ones and freaky ones that look weird
Getting lost is another biggie for me - and as I gave the sense of direction of a slightly mouldy dishcloth driving outside of my home town frightens the shit out of me and brings me out in a cold sweat. Animals, especially dogs - I can't 'read' them so i dont trust then they freak me out. I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

I never thought about it, but I guess those cylinders kinda make me anxious, too. It seems like the dough is under SUCH pressure. Opening one is like diffusing a little bomb. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Sounds like you may be dealing with vertigo there. Definitely have vertigo going on. Ever since I bumped my head back in 1980, it's been an issue. I even had a whole slew of tests run to find out what may be causing it, and they couldn't figure out what was going on. Guess I just have to live with it. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

There's nothing dumb about that. Especially now, with the problems hospitals have with C Diff and staph infections going on. You would think that they could find a way to stop that from happening. Makes me nervous to even THINK about a loved one, friend or myself having to stay in a hospital for any reason. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'm not scared of it per se...but I DREAD THE SOUND OF MY OWN TEACH GRINDING. I mean, I can do it once by accident, and I'll be paranoid for the next hour, being careful not to o it again. I hate hearing it.
And...do you know what a mind fuck is? Those "shit bricks" photos? Or those screamer videos with the old ghost lady thing? I am so scared of them. If I look at one, I'll be looking over my shoulder for DAYS.

I don't trust doctors though Over the last few years I have spent way too much time in hospitals, both for myself and my mother, who recently passed away. One of the many things I've taken out of that experience is that everyone needs to take charge of their own health. Trust your instinct as much as any doctor's opinion. If it just doesn't sound right, then see another doctor. Do your research carefully, and thoroughly, without scaring yourself! Communication between doctors, specialists etc... can never be relied upon and is often non existent. And most important of all, no matter how serious or life threatening your condition, find a GP you can trust. GP's tend to be the only medical practitioners that genuinely have your 'over all' care @ heart. Not always, but you have more chance with them than relying on a specialist.
