IS THIS A SCAM? Thanks for the email I Engr. xxxxx and my wife xxxxx own the 1bedroom Condo/Apartment and also want you to know that it was due to my transfer that makes me and my wife to leave the house and also want to give it out for rent and looking for a responsible person that can take very good care of it as we are not after the money for the rent but want it to be clean at the time and the person that will rent it to take it as if it were its own. So for now, We are here in west Africa, our new house and also with the keys of the house, we try to look for an agent that we can give this documents before we left but could not see and we are as well as don't want our house to be used any how in our present that is why we took it along with us.. I and my wife came over to West Africa for a missionary work, so i hope you will promise us to take very good care of the house. So get back to me on how you could take care of our house or perhaps experience you have in renting home. Hope you are okay with the price of US$600 with hydro,heat laundry facilities, air condition and so on. I am looking forward to hear from you soon, please call us on how to get the Apartment for rent, xxxxx

I googled the address and found it at a local realtor who explained to me the situation with the unit, which wasn't even a 1 bedroom as they claimed. 
I know, too good to be true, $600 for a 1bd/1bath. It's a good thing I inquired and researched it, I didn't know what to think. . [Edited 3/21/09 16:59pm] | |

You can't trust anything off of craigslist unless its maybe furniture and used cars and that's a big maybe. Its full of liars, scammers and people looking for sex. I don't know what to think, but I'm glad I asked. It's better to ask and find out the details I feel, otherwise I might move in only for the real owners to return and kick me out (the realtor I found after I googled and spoke to said that has happened before). | |

It's a scam, boo-boo.
Not to mention, like someone else already said, missionaries always start looking for resources in their own church, or verified prospective teneants from rental agengies...they are so not trying to rent to some random folks 
As a tip, any random mail you get with a reference to Africa or China and mention of money is, as a safe bet, UNSAFE. It's a phishing mail, and they're trying to take your money. | |

I find it shocking that people still have to ask and wonder about scams. After all these years don't they just scream at you???
I can't believe that so many people are taken in by these types of things. Why would anyone send someone they don't know money? Why would anyone give out personal info on the phone or internet? It boggles my mind.  | |
