Have you downloaded files lately from a sketchy site? Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

No. Unless the site Wikipedia directed me to to scan for Conficker was a counterfeit.

Well, I did a bit of googling... this page:
http://vil.nai.com/vil/co...141693.htm says to go here: http://www.mcafee.com/app...es/dat.asp and install security updates if you have a Mcaffee Tech support agreement... I'm guessing you have this since you have Mcafee... not sure what any of it does though... hope it works.

I just found this via Google:
It's normal for McAfee to flag SDFix, Combofix or other anti-spyware tools as a risk tool or a virus.
Is it possible the anti-spyware I ran to check for Conficker has set off this alert?

Thanks to all who have replied so far (except for Schro and Lamma ).
I'm hoping it's a false alarm.

Hey, m! So, what do I do now? I would rip out mcafee and install avg8 free http://free.avg.com/downl...ee-edition then re scan it

Until you get it sorted, a good trick is this...
01. Create a new text document in Notepad and save it as "Generic.txt" in the folder where the trojan was found; 02. Delete the trojan "Generic.dx"; 03. Rename the text document by changing the file extension from ".txt" to ".dx" It'll make the virus "think" that the infected code is still present and won't try to regenerate it, whilst you're busy cleaning it up. Restart your PC in Safe Mode. Download CleanUp and run it. Download SpyBot S & D and run it. Download CleanIt and install it. Finally, visit PandaScan for a free deep scan. mdiver's correct, the freebie AVG offers more protection that Mc.Affee. Also install Zone Alarm if you haven't previously. I'd also recommend using the Opera browser over IE, Safari or Firefox. [Edited 3/22/09 8:49am]

McAfee is some bullshit, I have it too. It let a bunch of stuff onto my computer, I had to end up calling a support number & paying out the yang to get rid of it. One of the programs the guy told me to keep & run on my own (b/c they remotely ran a bunch of shit that got rid of the problem, but didn't let me in on what those things were, BASTIDS!) is Malwarebytes' Anti Malware, its gotta be a free download from somewhere...
Whatever you do, do NOT buy Spyware Doctor!! It takes a shitload of memory to function, it'll slow your shit down & it will not solve anything. It repeatedly gave me clean scans when the comp was obviously still fucked up.

I downloaded that AVG a few days ago. It seems to detect them, but I can't seem to remove them. I do a scan and it finds a bunch of stuff but the options for removal are vague at best. What do I want to do to the files? Christian Zombie Vampires
