I just got a crazy trojan as well. I downloaded that AVG a few days ago. It seems to detect them, but I can't seem to remove them. I do a scan and it finds a bunch of stuff but the options for removal are vague at best. What do I want to do to the files?

Quarantine them to the virus vault. However some will need a cleaner tool

Thanks! I'l see how that goes. When I do this it pops up that removal may damage my computer but I get past that and then it comes up with files can't be found. I'll try doing what you suggested. Whats a Cleaner tool?

BTW...most trojan's are "harmless" and most simply affect your internet browsing. But they are annoying and should be removed. I don't think they can cripple or destroy your HD. Mine simply opens up a gajillion browsers when surfing. SOme sites are safe to go to like Yahoo, but most are not.

Sooooo many jokes dude lol

Some viruses need a removal tool because just deleting them is not enough, the AVG site will help if required.

1. Kill McAfee
2. Upload the file that McAfee flagged to www.virustotal.com
then:
3. If McAfee is the only one that flags the file, you've got nothing to worry about.
4. If other AV's flag it however.
5. Download an antivirus live-cd (f-secure has one, kaspersky too, I like the one from Antivir the best ...)
6. Boot your PC with the live-cd
7. Clean up tha shit.
8. Install AVG instead of McAfee.
9. Keep using the internet responsibly.

thumbs up!

There's about a 90% chance that McAfee flagged it in error. Don't panic!

2 OPTIONS:

1. get the AVG anti-virus (free edition) software and used it immediately.

OR

2. get Ubuntu (a disto of Linux) as your new OS.

I wish you were here. I had 5 or 6 viruses at one time and my friend got rid of all of them. All I lost was 1 picture. Everything else was saved.
