I don't think this attitude is as prevelant today as it used to be. When I was growing up, if I saw a brother in a suit making money and running shit, I was VERY impressed. It made me feel like I could go out and do something myself. It seems though, that young black men are looking more at athletes and rappers for these examples instead of businessmen, politicians or professionals.

Nowadays, being older (I'll be 31 on Sunday), and somewhat wiser, I hope I can bring that same feeling to a young black boy or girl.

I believe the sellout tag was and still is given to black people who literally try to act white. Hang around only white people, talk down to other black people, make fun of black culture, dialect, etc around white people, etc. When they forget where they came from and who they are, THAT'S when it's a problem.

I don't think all black people think that the world owes them something, remember what people went through and what it took from them just so you could sit in a classroom and learn like any other human being and date whomever you wanted. If one race of people killed off another because they felt they were'nt good enough how would you feel today, we all know that certain people need to give respect when respect is due. My great grandmother was a full blooded indian, don't you think maybe they deserved more too, shit they worked just as hard.
