Neither.

My mom's the kind of woman who puts everyone else's needs before her own. If there is any ounce of kindness in me, it all came from her.

My mother would fall into the first category

My mom rocks. She is completely selfless. She loves unconditionally. She isn't a prude. She's non-judgmental.

I love my mom.

My mom is the bestest in the whowe wowd !

my mom went thru some really tough times growing up and it continued when she married my father...it wasn't until after his death and she met my step dad that things improved for her...she still carries alot of emotional baggage from all of that but she's a good woman and I love her more than anything...but she can seem very distant and cold to those that dont know her...
anyway, to answer the question, she's pretty conservative but not prudish...

She's visiting us now. She's at the grocery store with the kids, probably getting them the stuff we won't buy for them.

my mom is a bit overbearing at times, and she can be kind of pretentious but she's amazing and I love her

Neither.

My mom was a hippie in her youth, and had the good sense to allow her daughters freedom and to teach us critical thinking skills. She was never the type to worry herself over inconsequential things like how we dressed or whether we had the "right" friends or what sort of music we listened to.

My mom and I disagree almost always when it comes to our taste in things and even spiritual beliefs, having gotten in arguments with each other both about the reality of an Almighty deity, and whether Superman or Batman is a better character.


The only thing that sets her apart as radically different from most parents IMO is that she always asked that we call us by her name instead of calling her Mom. Her logic being that being a mother is only a part of what she does, it's not the last word on who she is. In that sense, calling her Mom would be disrespectful and reductionist. To this day, I can't understand how addressing a parent by their title is somehow more respectful than calling them by their name.
