I'm reading online that the second day is usually the worst and it had better get better from here. I want to pull them out! NOW!

Who's had stitches? Did they itch like mad?

nod I had stitches when I had abdominal surgery, and yes, they do itch like mad. Plus, when I wore jeans, the zipper on the jeans pressed against the healing stitches, and that hurt. It does get better, though.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I would if I hadn't had the last few days off of work. This is my normal bed time! lol But I slept in this morning and I'm not tired at all.

Clearly you haven't been following my facebook status updates. hmph!

I had two moles removed from my face. They were irritated and all underground so they had to punch them out with a hole puncher and stitch me up. I had one of the best dermatologists in the state do it, so the scarring should be uber minimal.

But right now they're ITCHING LIKE MAD!!!!!

I've had stitches in my shin, foot, and lip. But I don't recall them being particularly itchy. Do antihistemenes help with itching?

Feel better soon.

the bright side is the itching is a good sign. It means you're healing quickly (I'm told). I had stiches from an injury on my hand. They itched horribly I must say but, my hand healed in no time and the scar is only noticeable to me.

I had staples instead of stitches for abdominal surgeries. They sucked as bad as regular stitches AND I was creeped out to look at them. lol

I had abdominal surgery twice; they used staples the first time, and the second time they glued me closed!

I got bitten in the face by a dog once and needed stitches. If you have any liquid Vit E capsules, cut one open and use a little bit of that on your stitches, or vaseline. It does help the itching.

ah, the side effect of healing skin. Ask anyone with a decent sized tattoo, the itching is the WORST.

I know it's hard, but just do something to take your mind off of it. That's about all you can do really.

I've heard about the glue they use to close an incision. So that stuff really does work? That's amazing!

I'll bet you were! I wouldn't want to look at staples either. Plus, that must hurt like heck when they take them out. Luckily, my stitches were the dissolving kind, so I didn't need to get them taken out. But I had a drain put into my abdomen to drain any excess fluid away from the surgical site. It hurt like heck when they pulled that thing out. lol
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
