in the 90s Diana was removed from the title of Wonder Woman because Queen Hippolyta had a vision of Diana dying and Artemis of the Bana-Mighdall lost trip of Amazons took the mantle of Wonder Woman.

Physical

* Peak human level strength, speed and reflexes.
* Master hand-to-hand fighter combining many assimilated fighting techniques
* Weapons expert in both the use and manufacturing of weapons (favoring bow and arrows, but ranging from blades to automatic weapons)
* Immortality which was provided by the witch Circe.[36]

Magical

* Knowledge of low-level sorceries learned in the Underworld including:
o Self-Transmogrification, using the phrase "Punji Baal T'Alemi Dar Baharin" to change into another person/creature and then saying the spell backward to return to her true form. This requires a lot of one's life force energy.[37]
o Spell Reversal, which she used to transform demonically transformed were-creatures back into their human forms.[17]
o Demonic Sensing, allowing her to know when a demon is masking their appearance as that of a human.[17]

Weapons

* While wearing the Gauntlet of Atlas Artemis' strength is increased 10 times her normal level.[38]
* Using the Sandals of Hermes Artemis possesses the ability to fly and run at high speeds.[39]
* The Armor of Shim'Tar provides limited invulnerability.

i don't like it at all. when it was time for me to pick up DC it was right after the first Crisis on Infinite Earths and the reboot of WW, i couldn't get into the old stuff.

Both DC and Marvel have been cranking up the powers of too many of their best characters to the point where they're effectively all godlike. How BORING! Where's the drama in invulnerability?

That said, in their original iterations, I think Storm would have blasted WW into little chunks of smoldering Amazon flesh. Ororo's near-divinity with regard to the elements had been flirted with since day one, with her weather-controlling ability simply being either the key manifestation of it or a separate mutant ability on top of it altogether. Diana, on the other hand, wasn't initially meant to be anything near a Greek goddess, but rather just an exceptional member of an exceptional race of Amazons, gifted by the Olympians with enhanced traits. Sure, she was extraordinarily smart, moral, physically adept, empathic, in tuned with nature... powerful in the sense of the idealized female -- but she wasn't depths-of-space- or warp-core-explosion-surviving powerful. talk to the hand Nowadays, the fight might be too close to call. rolleyes

Part of the problem, I think, is that Marvel has always executed its suspension of disbelief with a bit more forethought. I mean, as a kid I thought Marvel Universe's explanations of powers, genetic mutations, alternate realities, etc. read like Stephen Hawking! headache It was AWESOME! DC has always struck me first as a a teller of absurd modern-day fairy tales, only later backpeddling (a la Crisis on Infinite Earth) to flesh out the metaphysics and continuity of their ridiculous universe (and to make their characters more impressive) in the wake of Marvel's kicking their butts.

It's easy to get lost nowadays.

I've not been reading the books for awhile, so maybe Marvel has gradually inched Storm's power level up to the point where she'd give Jean a run for her money. (She's possibly an Omega-level mutant now. shrug) Back in the day, though, Jean Grey had been the only non-Elemental I'm aware of who could tap into the very creative/destructive force of the universe itself. shake She was NOTHING to play with.

But She-Hulk or the Scarlett Witch would totally kick her ass on any day of the week. nod

Storm would beat Wonder Woman.
Storm can use her powers at a distance and can deprive Wonder Woman the use of the same.
Storm doesn't have to resort to brawling
Wonder Woman would smash Scarlet. Wonder Woman would not the teeth out her mouth as soon as she tried to speak.
