We stayed at a resort but we went into town every night. You have to be careful anywhere you go but I didn't feel threatened at all. I heard that a cop was killed on one of the beaches near us while we were there. Apparently the killer left a note saying it was out of retaliation and that they would not harm tourists neutral

Wow, that looks fantastic! I can imagine how nice it must have been to get away from RI and go to that beautiful weather!

When I went to Mexico, I got so drunk off margarita's. I stumbled back on the ship, hitting on all sorts of chicks and when they wanted nothing to do with me (big surprise there), I was asking them if they had a sister or friend that wasn't such a bitch.

falloff good times.

Here's just a general article with one guy's story:
http://edition.cnn.com/20...index.html

But I agree with you. Is just a reality of Mexico-- a little bit like terrorism is reality of Middle East. A person-tourist of otherwise just has to be careful.

Is just something one must consider. Something else, if the tourism began to suffer maybe government would feel more pressure to do more. There is a lot of "dirty" authority in Mexico. But then again, there is dirty authority everywhere.

Ugh what a horrible story! Mexico City is really bad, we were far away enough from it but I guess it can happen anywhere. I made my friend come with me to the airport and she wasn't really happy about it because she had 2 extra hours to wait, but I didn't want to be in the cab alone. We had to go through one of those security check points and my heart stopped a second when the cab driver pulled over because I had no idea what was going on.

I know. This has been going on for so long... really. It might be escalating, but it's always been bad. I think maybe it not as much news before? It's very sad. The people of Mexico are nice. The country is beautiful. And then there is the reality.

Here's another story:
http://www.chron.com/disp...52174.html

It's just something to think about if one goes. This is all I am saying. In a way, is not good to be afraid of visiting Mexico because then the innocent.. the ones making an honest, meager living off tourism--the waiters, the vendors will suffer. But I am just suggesting if the ones with money would be hurt in the pocketbook, then the government might be pro-active.

It is just a very bad situation.

It is a bad situation and I do feel terrible for the innocent people trying to make a living off of tourism. The people there were so nice to us and made us feel at home. I hope changes happen but like you said, there are so many dirty authorities that it looks hopeless right now sad

So many of my friends and family were worried about me going and it was starting to bother me. I just wanted to get away and enjoy myself, and I did...but I made sure I was aware of my surroundings and was very cautious.

I'm back safe and sound, I didn't even so much trip on this vacation. That is a first!

On my trips to Mexico I worried a bit about crime (I worry about everything so take that with a grain of salt), but in the end the wort thing was people trying to sell you shit--constantly and relentlessly. And I know there's poverty and I'm a spoiled rich tourist, but it gets to you.

Right off the plane a guy basically screamed at me for not taking him up on his offer.
