Just watched it again, and even though some parts have dated, its still a great, interesting and funny film (though its not a comedy as such).

Michael Caine seemed tailor made for the role, but apparantly he was about 4th choice for the lead role? You feel sorry for him in the end really. Its quite sad.

Oh yeah, and Jude in the "reworking" was forgettable and compared to the original, crap. "Get Carter" got a half decent remake at least, though critics would laugh their heads off at that view.
