YEARLY 12 MONTH CONTRACTS!!!!????

Can someone please tell me, why everything is always on a yearly contract, like the phone, the cable/satelite, the Internet, utility bills, etc.?????

Why cant we just have monthly contracts instead so that we can cancel whenever we want instead of having 2 keep a service for a year first???

It pisses me off!!!!!mad mad mad

smile I agree there are other things to be pissed about.

Companies do this to ensure steady cash flows for a time. And many offer incentives to the customer -- shorter terms of commitment often are the most expensive per month, while longer terms usually carry lower per-month pricing, fewer oddball fees and more value-added services, etc.

Exactly....I can't stand when people want to blame what's happened to them on something else other than themselves.

So...you're saying people should actually honor their commitments?

Where's the fun in that? pout
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

#1 You signed the contract therefore you should have known this was the situation, you agreed to it therefore if you now don't like it that is tough shit.

#2 Any company providing a service has costs involved in servicing you. Therefore in order to make the contract price low they need a commitment from you. Hence the contract, you can't have it for 2/3 or fuck all and still get out when you want.
#3 If you don't like contracts of that length then get a monthly but you will pay more for it, that is the trade off.
#4 if they have breached contract by breaking their SLA's or in some way not supplying service then in actuality the contract is already broken and you don't have to pay squat. If that is the case then fight them, somehow i doubt that though.
#5 This wouldn't happen in America, maybe you should move there.

Anxiety

if a yearly 12 month contract were to be renewed every month, then it wouldn't be a yearly contract anymore. confuse

I know it's weird, huh? The accountability concept! My husband and I argue about it all the time. He feels sorry for everyone, and I blame them for being greedy and stupid. razz
