Solid-state hard drives?

I want to purchase some netbooks for staff and one of the ones I'm looking at has a 16GB solid-state hard drive. Should I give a shit?

These will only be used to email and access the Web. Occasionally, I would think they'll need to download and save images to send as attachments.

Thoughts?

Netbooks are cool ... if they won't use them for document editing and such they're good to go. Maybe see that there are some larger screens and keyboard/mice in the office for a more ergonomic working environment.

The SSD's reduce the moving parts ... that's less trouble smile

Go 4 it.

My VAIO with a SSD is super fast turning on and finding anything on the SSD is equally fast. Absolutely go for it. No loud spinning, generates less heat, uses less power...no cons IMO.

I get 6-7 hours out of my TZ laptop, easy. My SZ, with a regular HD, gets 3-4. So, I say it does, and that's all that matters to me!

As soon as the 1.6 Terabyte SSD falls below the $500 mark I'm gonna stick one into my PS3...300gb I put in a few months ago is getting full pretty quickly.
