madea (the character itself, not necessarily the movies giggle) kicks ass! nod all the side plots and shit tend to be on the boring side for me. especially in madea goes to jail, but all of madea's scenes are funny as shit falloff. my fave in this movie is when she beats up that kid on the bus falloff. classic! lol
life's a bitch, but god forbid the bitch divorce me...

falloff I was cracking up laughing as that scene was taking place. Madea is one tough lady in that movie; she doesn't take crap from anybody. lol

I've only seen bits and pieces of it but I can tell you that I thought it sucked. I only watched it to look at the good looking people but I couldn't possibly care any less about what was actually happening in the movie.

It's true! And Tyler's point is that there was a time when all of our grandmothers and older aunties kept the families together and kept us all in line, and ddn't take crap from any of us! Madea is Perry's relic of and triibute to that bygone era nod.

I haven't seen this, but isn't he featured in this one?

I'll bet the stageplay version was pretty good. I forgot they made the movie into a play.

Tyler Perry has been famous long enough for me to properly critique he and his movie/TV shows. If he were just an actor that stuck with the Madea character as his only trick, He would still be funny and well known but the act would get old and he would have to make up something else. As for the movie, I thought it was poorly written and had a simplistic plot. Perry would help himself to learn how to really hone his writing skills and character development to make the movie more beleivable. Case in point, the women who was the ADA was too over the top in her snobbishness and scheming to ever had made that far. The crime she commited was too wild to believe, no one would have gotten away with what she did.

I don't dismiss his success as a fluke because he's been doing it long enough to earn his status, any director worth their salt would love the level of success he has, His movies make a profit. I would like for Perry to develop better strories that aren't so preachy and simple.

I absolutely hated that movie. Honest.

The only Tyler Perry movie I like is Why Did I Get Married. I watched that a couple of times.

As for "MFR" itself, I didn't vibe it too much. The storyline was so much like "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" that it kinda went bland on me. Then there was the strange and creepy scene where Madea's brother and cohorts were salivatin' over a young, female relative in booty shorts at the family reunion. Kinda creepy. Had some good laughs at times though.
