I'm waiting till they release this movie to DVD, this lady acts in it...

The great late Diana Sands worship I swear I cannot take my eyes off the screen whenever she's in it, she truly embodied charisma and spunk.

She could've been a household name had she lived.

what did she die of? Ive heard two stories. 1) cancer, 2) boyfriend killed her sad

Ritual

That movie is hair raising disbelief esp the scene where the sister persuaded her gay brother to have sex with her.
I love Traci Townsend, the story is freh, it gave an objective fair view as opposed to the rehashed, redundant, forced "men = dogs" storyline thats in almost every black movie.

That scene shocked the hell outta me the first time I watched it,it's a very interesting story and you almost can never go wrong when Clarence Williams III. is in it.

Traci Townsend was a pleasant suprise, then again I can watch Jasmin Lewis and Mari Morrow in almost anything, LOL!!!

These 3 movies represent the new indie black wave, if black cinema turns to this direction, I'm SO glad!

[Edited 3/9/09 0:19am]

I gotta check these out, I'm always looking for new indie releases, especially black indie projects.

Traci Townsend - Haven't seen it yet, recorded it the other day. I wanna hear Carmen Rodgers' songs all up in there.

So THAAATS her name hmmm I found the soundtrack to be very enjoyable, although I couldn't find it anywhere.

Yeah, most of her songs that appear on the soundtrack are on her debut album. Amazon has it.

In addition to Crouching Tiger and Menace II Society . . .

I want to love Hav Plenty -- interesting story, good characters -- but it's so poorly executed I can't.

Yeah, dude was too full of himself to be actor and director, and it showed in his acting delivery. Then Tracy and Babyface kinda dicked him for his flick, and really was just looking for a film vehicle to release music from their artists.

Its cancer,,,,,it showed on her last appearances and if I'm not mistaken, she did mention it in one of the TV talk shows.

The world lost a great legacy thats for sure.

Five of my top six favorite films of all time are "independent" films.

Elizabeth (1998)
Queen Margot (1994)
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000)
Brotherhood Of The Wolf (2001)
Sex And Lucía (2002)

It plays like a truncated period-piece take on The Godfather Saga, but it remains one of my very favorite movies of all time and a classic in its own right.

It's my favorite movie ever. Very goth-friendly.

It's not a coincidence that my top four films are period pieces. And that three of them are tragic love stories. And in three of them the Catholic Church is the big bad. Those are the ingredients for a perfect story. lol

And my 2 biggest honorable mentions (because I'm not sure if they could be called "indie" to the degree of my first 5)...
(Produced, in part, by an Asian arm of Columbia)

(Produced by a film ousider, but a print media giant... and backed from the onset by Paramount)
