where do you buy a cane?

I twisted my ankle badly last night. sad

I was walking home and was crossing a street when I noticed a car coming. So I picked up my pace to run the rest of the way and somehow stepped in a pot hole, twisted my ankle and fell down. Luckily I was out of the way of the car. But my ankle is ALL swollen and very, very painful and I can't really walk on it.

I know I'm supposed to stay off of it, ice it and elevate it as much as possible, but I DO need to walk around from time to time (like today, to go see The Watchmen whistling ).

So where does one buy a walking cane? I don't think I've ever seen one in a store. I think I'd find one ever so helpful right now.

You can get what you need at a medical-supply store, or maybe even a drugstore.

Does it have to be stylish? hmmm

Because I don't think he gets his canes from CVS... I'm just sayin'...

I've been looking them up online and there are some sharp ones, but that won't help me today. And hopefully I won't need it after a few days. I'm supposed to start my running class a week from Monday so dammit it better be better by then!

My friend Athena is letting me borrow her crutches!

woot!

I thought a cane would be more stylish, but I'm not about to turn down a free pair of crutches to borrow. smile

I should have known to call my friend network first. doh! I have the most awesome friends on the planet.

I'm not planning on it, no. boxed

I know that they'll tell me to keep it elevated, ice it, wrap it and stay off of it. And I'm planning to do all of that for the rest of the weekend other than going to see The Watchmen today.

If I don't see improvement in the swelling and such by Monday, then maybe I'll go in. My insurance is awful and it's sooooo expensive for them to look at it and tell me the things I already know.

I was going to say I think a crutch would be more helpful. I think it'd be hard to balance weight with a crutch.

Hope you feel better soon.

It feels a lot better today!

I'm still pretty limpy, but it's not nearly as painful.
