haircuts!

is there anything worse than a bad haircut? Or anything longer than how long it takes for a bad one to grow out so you can cut it again? And doesnt a nice haircut make all the difference in the world? Cheers for barbers and hairdressers! Its like a new wardrobe for your face!

I just dyed my hair red last night. I had a maroon color before and the red really picked up on it. I'm horrified. My hairdresser was adimant about it so I went with it. AHHH!!!

I know, it's just been dyed so many times. I have been dying my hair myself since I was 12. Now that I go to a professional I hate it! Well she's my friend, so that's why I went. She persuaded me into doing it and I should have said no. Ah well, I'll let it wash out a little bit and then do it brown next week. I need my natural color back for a little bit. And I'm tired of having a restricted wardrobe because of my hair color!!

That's cool! biggrin

Or buy a temporary rinse or mousse to tone it down for now. That wouldn't damage your hair (check to make sure it has no alcohol) and it would get you through til you do color it.

Sittin in a new barber's chair will cause me to break out in sweat. Half the time I just don't even want to see what's going on in the mirror... the other half I'm like WHOA, I asked for a number 1 fade NOT a SKIN fade.

Changing barbers is the worse thing.

Sometimes the pic doesn't help especially if the barber is inexperienced and doesn't know how to take into account grade of hair, density (folicles per cm), direction of growth, shape of head (especially important in fades), etc.

Me and my barber been through a lot discovering these things... he knows it to a T and now when I sit in his chair I don't even have to say a word... just let him do his thing.

He knows which guards to use on the clippers, when to use scissors, when to raise or lower the clippers away from the head, how to round the fade out, etc.

It's a SCIENCE I tell you. So all props to anyone who does hair.

Sorry, I didn't take into account inexperience. Sometimes hairdressers LIE!!! They say they know what they do not!

It took me lots of practice to do fades properly, and to carefully move with my clippers. Sticking to the same person is a smart move, sometimes it takes a few tries to get it just right.

I'm happy I learned all types of hair over the years. So the only line I draw, is I don't do extensions of any kind, I like to work with what a person already has.

biggrin

yes it's a tricky thing those fades. when choosing a new barber i usually hang around the shop and watch him cut three or so different heads before i'll even let him near me.

I cut my own hair - what is left of it.
All I do is put the number 1 or 2 guard on the clippers.
I buy a new pair of clippers every other year.

Yea...you can tell how the barber place the clippers on your head..whether they can cut or not or at least I can. If they cut all hesistant, and moving the clippers in a shaky like manner, then they CAN'T cut. A good barber that cuts with confidence can normally cut at a pretty quick pace...at least that has been my experience. YES...changing barbers is a drag. I have a good one and when he changes locations he gives me and other customers the heads-up so when changes facilities, he brings his customer base with him.

Funny story about some my barber shop expereiences. When I was like a senior in high school, I started going to this female barber. Now this sista was versatile. She styled women's hair and she also did men's hair. She could cut all kind of styles. Anyway, I used to love to go to her. Fellas, to watch this woman shake and twist with those curves in a miniskirt..was to behold art..TRUST ME. But she also liked to wear spaghetti strap dresses. When wrapping up my hair cut{in which she would shape up my hair line in the front...she would always been over and those breasteses as we say sometimes(LOL) would be starring a brother dead in the face}. The fact that she always had on some good smelling perfume didn't help matters either.

I do, actually biggrin

They always "remind" me to NEVER retire! lol The men too :O

I'm a perfectionist, and most of my clients are career men and women, so they come in every 3-6 weeks too.
