ZombieKitten said: I bought 2 today, I was so looking forwards to eating them
but WTF!!!! they are meant to look like THIS: what the hell is that bright yellow liquid? is there an animal in there? Did I just cut through some exotic parasite pupae? OMG!!!! so mad right now!! From my experience with this fruit that it is acid but mild in flavor and served as a desert with sorbet. I would return those you have bought back where you got them as these are clearly overripe to rotten. Prince's Sarah

thekidsgirl said: ZombieKitten said: it's naturally occurring well now, you learn something new everyday! Latex as found in nature is the milky sap of many plants that coagulates on exposure to air. It is a complex emulsion in which proteins, alkaloids, starches, sugars, oils, tannins, resins and gums are found. In most plants, latex is white, but some have yellow, orange, or scarlet latex.

Next time U go to the Gold Coast head to Tropical Fruit World! U & the kids will love it! Also while U're there there's a special Kiwi Fruit on the Gold Coast! you can get durian at Springvale we had one here and I thought there was rotting garbage in the bag The master said it was like mango crossed with onion Anyway, don't buy mangosteens at safeway, that's the moral of this story Durians are delicious. Some types don't even smell that bad. They're bloody sticky and messy to eat though.

Nothing beats rambutans
If you peel the outside off and leave them in the fridge for a day they taste even better. 30 cents a kilo when they're in season. . [Edited 3/23/09 19:18pm]
