I've read just about every novel Stephen King has written- the ones I haven't are Richard Bachman, and on my shelf (I haven't had time). I also buy compilation books when he's one of the authors.
I've even sat thru the movies- incl. the crappy ones. I'm a little biased. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Its a toughy but I'm going to go with Clive Barker, I love all his Hellraisers...superb films and think theres another one to come (different guy playing Pinhead though, Pinhead isn't Pinhead unless its Doug Bradley!) I also have a signed letter from Clive Barker as I wrote about him when I was at college as I chose to do a piece on him.
His book 'Weaveworld' is a wonderful journey into the imagination and fantasy! I love his art work aswell. [Edited 4/26/09 13:51pm] [Edited 4/26/09 14:00pm] Sometimes Life is like the post...You just don't get it!

Stephen King just for sheer variety.
Although I found "The Stand" very wordy.

King for "comfy" horror.
Clive for other-worldly imaginative awesomeness. Clive is also hotter than King and an awesome painter.

Stephen King all the way!
He's a master story teller. He may not write great literature, but he is the master of horror. I've read everything he's ever written and he's the only horror writer I read. I love his work.
