generally speaking..do you think really wealthy people care about really poor people?

for the x % of people who are in no way shape or form affected by the current economic woes...do you think they really care that gas is high and people are getting foreclosed out of their homes? i mean when you sign a $100 million dollar contract, do you really care about the unemployment rate?

Depends on the person really, sometimes it's a question of HOW they got rich. Newly rich folks are gonna have more personal ties to less fortunate people (friends, family) so they may hear about it more, which doesn't necessarily mean they're gonna do anything. I think most of them don't give a flying fuck about people who do without. They don't have to see them or hear about them if they don't want to, they can completely isolate themselves & only be around other people with $$ & just act as if everything is fine. neutral

I think most of them have a "them" versus "us" attitude. They also have biases again the newly rich. I think the only time they want to do something for the poor is during tax time or when they want recognition.

The Madoff scandal cracks me up for this reason, he had this elite company that only certain wealthy people could get into to make money and they were all scammed, including the Israeli Govt. lol

i always find it ironic that a lot of sports figures who grew up dirt poor/middle class change their tune with their first big money. of course when they mismange it all and are broke again (relative to you and me of course)..they don't know what the hell to do.

I have never understood how wealthy people don't reach back and help others. Yeah, I understand how its their money and they are free to do as they please but no one got to where they are without help from someone.

Did you ask yourself if you care about poorer people?

i care in relation to what i can do in my specific financial situation. i just went and spent $20 on cleaning supplies to do my bathroom. i'm sure there are thousands of people who could have used that same money on food or medicine. i care but i'm just a couple of rungs up on the ladder from where they are, with a good chance of falling down it.

Yeah it's all relative, you'll always find someone richer or poorer than you actually are.

Nowadays half of earth polulation live with less that $1.25/day. I suppose you got a roof above your head, which makes you really lucky compared to homeless people. The thing isn't giving all your money and stuff, but caring begins with simple things, like saying hello. Paying attention is priceless.

my sister and i live in the house my mom left us when she passed away. my sister just bitched to me about that we had to $1,000 for property tax for the year. of course i reminded her that the house is paid for and we never have to worry about somebody coming to put us out as long as we pay that $1,000 a year

sometimes they do, publically, to draw attention to themselves, put themselves in a good light, or to relieve themselves of a bad conscience, if they HAVE one.

I'd be willing to go even further than that by saying that very wealthy people probably see poor people as a burden to society.

exactly. just like anybody else. besides, some people may be less fortunate, but they can help other people, but won't. it's about the person, not their finances.

it's very easy to though. The world would not be in the shape it is if the wealthy helped the poor. There is absolutely no excuse for poverty in this world.

I could never understand why there are hungry people. It makes no sense at all.
