UPDATE: Severe Yeast Infections (yes i'm desperate)

I'm snowed in with a fuckin' severe yeast infection that my GYN has failed to prescribe something to clear up for me. I've been suffereing with this shit since January. He's prescribed me with anti-biotics, but those damn things keep giving me the fucking yeast infection again!!! I keep telling his ass that, but by the time he prescribes the Diflucan for it to clear up the infection, it doesn't clear it completely. Now i'm left with irritation in the vulva area which is annoying the hell out of me. I call the office this morning, but of course, it's closed because of the snow. I'm tempted to call the emergency doctor's line so that some fuckin' doctor can call me in something to get rid of this mess for once and for all. I actually feel like i'm never going to get to have sex ever again sad That's how irritated I feel.

(I know some of you are thinking..."Is it an STD?"...well no it isn't, I got checked for all of that and all the tests were negative)

So yes ladies, have any of you experienced this before? I'm in desperate need of tips on how to handle this situation until i'm able to talk to a nurse tomorrow so that my GYN can prescribe me with something else. I usually don't put personal things like this on the site, but like i said I'M FUCKING DESPERATE AT THIS POINT!

I count my lucky stars that I have never had one but I worked with a girl that was going through a really horrible time. After trying a ton of treatments turns out it was related to her IUD. She finally had it removed and it all cleared up.

I was thinking of trying an IUD for the first time last year but her story freaked me out so much that I'll never try one now.

Yes be very glad that you haven't experienced it. I've had severe yeast infectins before but none like right now. Usually the Diflucan takes care of it, but i'm just baffled at how the infection just treating the Diflucan like its nothing. Then when I went to my GYN for him to check it out, he kept asking me if I had been having rough sex....I was like dammit didn't you just hear me? i haven't had sex in 6 months and then this shit happens. He asked the same damn question like 3 times, like I was lying or something, what the fuck? i can't even think about sex right now with the way I feel down there. disbelief I wanted to sock him in the teeth. Give me a shot in my ass or something to get rid of this shit already. This is how I feel right now.

thanks for the site info, but all the things on this site I already know about. I was going to go out and get some yogurt today, but guess what, can't exactly get my car out in the snow, and I really don't want to be making extreme efforts like that unless i'm going to pick up a prescription to clear this shit up for good.

You can get it at the store not perscribed

Acidophilus is also called lactobacillus acidophilus. Lactobacillus acidophilus is a bacteria that exists naturally in the body, primarily in the intestines and the vagina. Acidophilus helps maintain an acidic environment in the body, which can prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.

Acidophilus has been used to treat or prevent vaginal yeast infections, yeast infections of the mouth, diarrhea caused by taking antibiotics, and urinary tract infections. Acidophilus may work by helping the body maintain normal consistency of bacteria in the stomach, intestines, and vagina.

Wow U need a second opinion by a gyno and quick! It makes sense though that the antibiotics aren't working because they are a common cause for thrush so to get some relief in the meantime U should be inserting and applying canestan cream.

Do you have any tea tree oil?

If you do...you can either douche with it (put about 8 drops in the water) or...barring that...put a few drops on the tip of a tampon and insert it. Washing with tea tree shampoo can help, too. If you're very irritated, it'll sting. But it'll feel better afterward.

Yogurt is good for prevention...but not so effective if you already have an infection. And eating it won't help much - you need to apply it directly to the area. (Either dilute for a douche or just spread it on yourself.) Make sure whatever kind you buy has active cultures.

Or...you can take the contents of an acidophilis capsule...empty it into water...and douche with that.

If all that fails...then see if a pharmacy will deliver Monistat. (That is always the court of last resort for me - because the infection usually gets worse before it gets better. (Which is known as a Herxheimer reaction.)

Yah it's good for U I drink one Yakult daily. Another recommendation would be 100% Goji juice, a quality liquid that originates from the himalayan mountains.

supplementing acidophilus seems like it would be an ass backward way of dealing with yeast when you are taking antibiotics.

you would want to supplement with acidophilus AFTER you have allowed the antibiotics to run its entire course. Otherwise you are just using the antibiotics to kill the acidophilus.

with any sort of bacterial infection its best to lay off any sort of sugars, honey fruit etc. drink plenty of green tea, eat vegetables only. In essence fast.

After you have done this for at least two weeks, if not longer, then replenish you body with good bacteria from yogurt.

What kind of idiot doctor would prescript antibiotics for a yeast infection? confuse

Diflucan is not an antibiotic. It's an antifungal.

Something doesn't add up here...

This thought actually crossed my mind while I was suffering this weekend. i do know about the yogurt "with active cultures" because my aunt told me this yesterday. She is used to dealing with yeast infections and couldn't believe that my GYN didn't tell me that. Naturally I was neutral

No he presecribed the antibiotic just in case I had some kind of bacterial infection. But while I was taking the anti-biotic, it gave me a yeast infection again. It wasn't until the test results came back on my culture that he realized that it was in fact a rare type of yeast that is the culprit, and prescribed the Diflucan still isn't killing it.

no antibiotics.....no no no
that crap causes a yeast infection. Your body will become immune to diflucan if you take too much of it. Stop eating sugar, no soda, lots of water and take some probiotics.

you probably have a bacterial infections.
Do not use anything over the counter.

Go see a female doc and ask her about:

metronidazole gel

You will probably have to take a three-four week course of Diflucan. It will work, but sometimes severe infections need more than just the one week course.

I used to get frequent and severe infections before I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and oddly enough, they have stopped since my mastectomy and treatment six years ago. shrug

I also now drink DanActive every single day. I'm not a huge yogurt fan, so the DanActive is easier to deal with every day than regular yogurt.

There are also special fasting diets on the web that have to do with ridding the body of an overgrowth of candida.

Oh god, those are the worst thing ever. I had a c-section and massive antibiotics given because of an infection that had occured with the incision.

I had a rash from the girl parts all the way down to my knees. I didn't know what it was, turns out it was a yeast infection, and a very bad one at that.

If you can, go to a drugstore and buy Monistat 7, I think they even have a 3 day variety, but I would use the seven day. Some of them come with an anti-itch cream. This is what they will prescribe to you anyway, and is about the same cost as a prescription.

UPDATE: I ended up getting out in the snow and going to Patient First. The doc there said that I didn't have a yeast infection, if I did then it has been cleared up...she said that it looks like it has to do with HPV. I know I was treated for abnormal paps a year and half ago because I had abnormal cells on my cervix that was caused by HPV, but the lady doc at Patient First said that it can also occur on the outside as well...and that my GYN probably was just focusing on the cervix and not the labia areas. And therefore, I would have to go back to my GYN for them to diagnosis that and treat me appropriately. So i'm still at square one, have to take more time off from work to go back to this damn GYN and tell him something that he couldn't have seemed to come up with from jump. The reason why the female doc who looked at everything today at Patient First couldn't treat it is because she wasn't officially labeled a GYN doctor.

I just want this shit cleared up for once and for all.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
