Myself, wife, and family are all responsible firearm owners.

They will face charges. You can NOT fire into the street because someone is stealing your car. The high power assault rifle compounds the seriousness of the incident.

People like these clowns make it easier for the politicians to continue to take away my freedoms and rights as an American citizen.

They should, and probably will, be prosecuted to the full extent of the laws. Florida is one of the easier states to own firearms in, and even here, they broke at least two laws in that little write up. Other states are even more strict.

That AK could easily pierce walls of nearby residences and kill people. EASILY. All to save your car?? Please. rolleyes

I'm joking all the time, but shit like this gets me serious. disbelief

We're going to the gun range today, and I'm going to pretend I'm shooting at these idiot gun owners.

shake This ghetto stuff sounds like a skit for SNL. Seriously tho.....what if they had killed the thieves? How the hell could you sleep knowing you killed somebody over a damned car (riddled with bullet holes since your aim sucks). I know its their property. but nobody deserves to die over a hunk of metal and plastic. heck...they would have been better off letting them take it and getting the insurance money....since I doubt the insurance company is gonna reimburse them for the new bullet holes made at the hands of the owners.

I think you raise a key issue. The car likely had little or nothing to do with this. The owners so easily shot it to bits because their prime intent in running down to the carport with a loaded AK-47 was to kill some people -- and "thieves (trying) to shoot at them" rolleyes was the excuse they'd always dreamed of.

And they'd have slept like babies.

They were protecting what was theirs. shit no charged should be pressed

Shit, here a homeowner was charged with assauly cause a burglar slipped on his steps - it was icy and he hadn't salted/put gravel on them. rolleyes

He was charged because someone slipped on his steps because it's the law that every homeowner has to make sure that his part of the sidewalk and steps is safe.
If it were his mother in law at 2pm or the postman at 8am, he would've faced the same charges. Knowing it was someone who might have tried to break into his house doesn't take his responsibility away. Simple.

Also, regarding this story. I've always heard you can fire in self-defense, but shooting people that are either running from you or driving away in your car, is not self defense. I see no threat.

co-sign.

i am not a gun advocate by any means, but this is beyond ridiculous, regardless of where your position on handguns is. why in the name of god should any citizen in a residential area have a fucking AK-47?!?!?!?

LOL, what a GREAT movie. In fact, I think it is a PERFECT science-fiction movie.

"Hand me that cannon fuse."

"Why do you have cannon fuse?"

"For my cannon."

Love it!

The phrase "Play at your own risk" comes to mind lol. That's the thing, thieves never know who they're fuckin' with when they decide to go do their dirt. That shit falls solely on them. Fuck 'em.

in Atlanta home invasions and bold robbers are serious! THey will run up in your house with all your lights on, 7pm, having dinner.

We just bought a house and I am seriously considering getting a pit and a rott, serious home security, and a piece. OK, not a piece, guns scare me. But I would dare a MF to run up in my house with a trained pit bull to greet them.

Seriously, the robbers are bold. And no one is safe, they go all the way out in the suburbs. I will NEVER have uninvited guests at my house. I'm even suspicious of the folks delivering our furniture orders. Out here, you can never be too careful. And since the economy has gone down the toilet and 5000 jobs are lost per month in this city it's getting worse.
