My first attempt at snowboarding, in 2 years

I've only had a couple of lessons 2 years ago, and a couple of short runs.
So last Wednesday we went to a nice close by mountain (Kelso) and I've done my best to stay on my feet.
I'm still scared of going forward, so most of what I do is either, break all the way down, or do the "falling leaf", in order to not panic.

Hopefully next week I'll have another run, and I'll have more guts to go downhill like I'm supposed to.

I had a very nasty purple bruise on my ass, because the snow was icy. At one point when I was going downhill, there was a piece of ice which I hit and landed on my pretty ass.

It's minutes of my life I'll never get back, they're mostly pointless and all added up it would be hours and possible days of my life wasted. I'm bored sometimes but not that bored.
However, if you're falling down in the vids I will reconsider. evillol

Your butt is too far back, you are not centered over the board so you feel off balance. Bend your knees more and really concentrate on your butt being directly centered over the deck, to and dont be scared of speed, it makes it easier to turn

I'm slowly getting better. It's just getting over the fear of rolling down the hill if I lose control. Especially in a very icy, unforgiving snow.
I know that going faster will make it easier to control (and less time to make mistakes) but I really need to get over the fear of falling.

The hills I go to are pretty steep. So when I'm going down the lift, and going to the right track, I manage to snowboard right, but then I look down at the track, and all I can do is go down, breaking.
At the end of the day, I managed to do better.

Good work mate, you are on the mountain...that is all that matters, maybe invest in a back protector, it will relieve the worry of falling. The most important thing is to RELAX...riding is 20x easier when you are loose, if you stiffen up you WILL fall

Too bad it's the end of the season. I need to move to an all year winter place.
Maybe Antarctica. biggrin

There is always next year! I like riding at the end of the season though... T shirt, boarding pants, goggles and the mountain woot!

I wish I could afford it right now, because there's a couple of places close by that I can actually get on the bus and be there in 30 minutes.

No, I'm not falling. And snow is still here to use and abuse.
I'm going snowboarding once more, even if I have to walk there.

Not quite lol She did get a better bf though, they moved in together in a new apartment. I believe she's preggers though and I don't like that, it's not even been a year since she and Tyra's dad split up and she needs to take care of herself and Tyra for a while. I'm not sure she IS pregnant though but my intuition is screaming at me.
