I've actually gone the opposite. I use to travel cheap, but now, if I can afford it, I go as ritzy as possible.

That being said, I'm still pretty cheap.

I've stayed at nice places but nothing I would nominate as grand or grandest.
I'm firmly planted in denial

Are you sure it's not a clarinet? That's what I thought I heard when I was there.

That is what I always thought it was but Phil says saxamaphone because of the Simpson.
lol

Yes, she is still playing. Dylan sits outside of the door facing her house and howls as she plays.

She has gotten a bit better. He is so cute when he sits out there howling along with her playing.

I've only stayed at the Parasite Resort on Gold Coast, but I don't think that really counts as luxury or anything falloff

Fauxie

Can't think of a grand hotel I've ever stayed in on my own dime.

Best place I've ever paid for staying at was probably a $50 a night beach-side place on Koh Samui, in Thailand, that had 2 floors. It was Mon's birthday so I pushed the boat out. lol

My ideas of traveling is closer to genuine discovery by sharing the native's life as much as I can. Most of the time I've been a guest: in Asmterdam for example (org invasion 2005... what a wonderful adventure!)

I think I'm taking my kids to Beaches in the Turks and Caicos this summer. It's the same company as Sandals only for families.

Very beautiful resort and islands. nod

UPDATE: I had no idea the Lanka Oberoi became the Colombo Plaza and got completely renovated in 1997 (considering the fact I've been there long before)

This five stars rated hôtel changed his name again for Cinnamon Grand
