Nope.

If somebody's adventures bug you, then get up and go places yourself.
Unless they're being belligerent and comparing their own travels to yours like abeirman, you should embrace their stories.

With abierman, you should just make fun of his shoes. He HATES that.

Not generally, no. Whenever I encounter avid travellers, braggers and not, I try to pick up tips from them -airport tricks, the best sort of train systems, packing hints, etc.

I once had a pen-friend from Bavaria. After writing for a couple of years she came over to visit, via NZ. She compared everything here with there - nothing here was as pretty as there (and it's actually true, but do we want to hear that? mad bloody kiwis!) We took her around to show her some wildlife, and she said "ah yes, the black swans, they are a pest" confused She had some piece of misinformation about EVERYTHING.
More a know-it-all than a boastful traveller hmmm but irksome nonetheless.
When the waiter in the pizza restaurant I took her to started in on her about Hitler I didn't even bother jumping to her defense, I was totally fed up with her by then falloff

lol

I have a friend that, in a group with others, I travelled through Europe with. She compared absolutely everything to life in Kelowna, claiming it was better. She even said her mom's yorkshire puddings were better than any English food she had. wacky

My mum, bless her, is so nice, she drove this girl around everywhere and thought it would be a buzz for her to see that our swans are black. Of course they must have them in NZ too or something, for she already knew all about them. They aren't a pest here though confuse maybe only to the kiwis.

I had the chance to travel to Trinidad in January which I would have never thought it would happen, so I shouldn't complain.

It does annoy me. But what's worse (or better, depending on how you look at it) is when you have two or more travel snobs together trying to "outcosmopolitan" one-another. That cockfight is RICH! nod

I love learning about the places, in fact, if I haven't already been there -- but that almost becomes a mere aside to the sad public masturbation.

OH MY GOD. I may be one of these irksome people. I love to share my travels and I don't mean it as a bragging thing. It's more of a "if you ever have the opportunity to do it, DO IT!!!" kinda way.

i came across a couple who got on my nerves whilst out in Australia but then it tended to be people i didnt like in the first place. Normally i like hearing about where people have gone where they would/nt recommend. I think i learnt more from other travellers than from any tour books.

There's nothing wrong with that at all. Big difference.
