Would you pay to meet a celebrity?

There is an opportunity to meet Jennifer Hudson and Robin Thicke (I've met him three times already).

I'm paying to meet Bill Maher.

Is anyone worth it to you guys?

I would like to say no I wouldn't, but I'd be lying.
The only people I'd pay to meet is Johnny Depp and maybe Will Smith.

i guess it depends on what all i'm getting. if it's a meet and greet as well as a speech/performance/Q&A, or if there's some kind of swag involved, then sure. but if it's just for the privilege of shaking their hand and maybe getting an autograph, naaaaah, not really.

i've met most of my favorite people at book/record/DVD signings, and those are always free.

Bill Maher's debating the SheBush, I mean Ann Coulter. Then it's refreshments and I get to meet him and have my picture taken with him. Well worth the money.

For J Hudson and R Thicke, there's a concert, a pre-show party, a gift bag and parking is included. It's 350 bucks though.

If I get something for the $$ then, yes.

For instance, you get to see Maher and Coulter go at it. I consider that the price of admission. Meeting him is just icing.

If it was "hey gimmie $50 for a photo op" I would opt out.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

He really wants to go so I may just get two regular tickets for way less than one VIP ticket. Maybe he'll put out? hmmm

Actually I find it a bit galling that celebrities actually CHARGE people to meet them! There's something really screwed up about a person, who already having plenty of money in the bank, thinks themselves that cool and important that they should charge people to meet them! Unless it's for charity then... nope.
I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

C'mon and dance while you, while you still have your cherry babe, cherry babe..

That is a good point. the first 3 times I met Robin, it was completely free and I'm not a Jennifer Hudson fan. I think I was getting caught up in the hype of meeting someone as famous as she is now. It's funny I've never met her here in Chicago. We grew up in the same neighborhood.

i never know what to say to them when i have a chance to meet them. it's such a forced situation. they're there to promote something, you're there to meet them, there's no real impetus for conversation and even if there were, there's a line of people waiting behind you. i always feel like a big dork. there have been a couple of times when i've made successful small talk, but there have also been a couple of times when i walked away feeling like a dumbass. redface

I met Paul Rudd a few months ago when he was promoting Role Models. He was very easy to talk to and he took his time with everyone. He seemed genuinely happy that I loved The Ten.

Most of the time, I just tell the celeb that I enjoy their work.

nod I say stupid stuff too! About 10 years ago I went to a book signing of terry pratchett. The queue was obscenely long, so I spent the best part of 2 hours chanting to myself 'don't say anything stupid, don't say anything stupid...' when I got to the front of the queue, I plonked my book down in front of him and said 'I go to bed with you every night!' doh! err (I only meant that I read his books before I went to sleep! And for that matter I hadnt actually meant to tell him even THAT!) he looked at me like I was bonkers! When Id scurried off outside, redfaced I checked what he'd written in my book - he'd put 'Kerry, in your heart you know its true!' lol

Nope. I work in an industry where celebrities pass through on a daily basis, have met some very cool famous peeps but in the end they're just fellow human beings so I see no value in spending my dosh to meet them.

Yeah that is a good point. But I see people like Bill as someone I admire greatly even as just another human being and he's worth the cash to me. I've spent more money meeting orgers.
