Cell Phones

Who uses them while driving? There is a four-time greater chance of you having an accident while using one while driving. The good thing is you can call for help ten-times faster. Also they are trying to make the EMPLOYERS responsible if the call was work related. What do you think about all this?

I admit that I do use my cellular phone while driving and I also realize that it isn't very wise.

I promise that if I get into an accident, while talking on my cellular phone and driving, that I won't sue the cellular phone company. smile

No,but if it's work related the person you hit may sue your employer which could cost you your job.

It would not be work related unless I am speaking to my kids... they would have to sue me. smile

I think it is ridiculous if they try to sue the employer. Like I said before, people need to be responsible for their own actions. Everyone is always so quick to blame another or sue someone.

It's coming, they figure employers will tell their employees to not make work related calls use while driving. It will cut down cellphone usage on the road a bit.

In NYC if you get caught using a cell phone (without handsfree devices like speakerphone or headphone/mic) while driving you will be fined $100 and get points on your license I believe.

I've seen people drive like real asses on the road only to pull up along side them and see them trying to handle the wheel while dialing or holding a phone up to their ear. disbelief mhm mhm mhm

some women coped an attitude with me cause I was talking to one of my friends on a PUBLIC bus here in chicago...She said that me talking on my phone was interupting her conversation with her friend sitting next to her. The thing is I was sitting atleast five seats away from her. nuts

For the record, I don't have a cellphone. biggrin

I'm usually right on target when someone is driving slower than usual, or swerving on the road - that they have a phone on their ear.

Cell phones make me sick. True story here...

I was in the grocery store, to get myself some cereal. I got behind this rather large woman in the cereal aisle blockin' my Peanut Butter Captain Crunch. She wouldn't move. She stood there with her cart.

She was talking on a cell phone. I tried saying, "Excuse me..." but she just gave me this annoyed look, as if to say, "CAN'T YOU SEE I'M ON THE DAMN PHONE?" and stood there. All I wanted was some damn cereal! So I wait.

She's talking about the silliest shite too. Things that could surely wait until she got home to use her own phone. Like, "'such and such' said...And she said..."

I must've waited 5 minutes for her to just move. And she kept shooting me evil looks like I was intruding on something. I almost had some sort of breakdown right there in the store, I was so frustrated. And all because of a cell phone. evil

Fuckin' phones!

And then, THEN..You have people my age, and younger, bring these little contraptions to school. They use them during class. Tryin' to be all sneaky and texting one another, and playing those little games of "snake." And they think they're cool because they carry around a phone! That's about the most retarded thing in the world! "Oooh, look at me, I'm a big cool guy, I have a CELL PHONE that my parents pay for that I bring to school to show everyone how COOL and IMPORTANT I am. I AM SO COOL AND IMPORTANT that I can't wait until I go home to use my god damn phone!" evil

So, I don't own a cell, I never will own a cell, and I think they're stupid.

Battier,

All you needed to do was start shouting or signing at the top of your voice. She would move because she wouldn't be able to hear.

If that didn't work, start screaming at her. Don't stand for that ignorance. Be bold.

I agree with much of what you said, but cell phones can also be a lifesaver when you're in emergency situations.I don't have kids but if I did,I would buy them each a cellphone. The world is so crazy nowadays and a cell phone could come in handy.

I have a cellphone. It's been very helpful and yes I use it while driving. If it's in my pocket book when I'm driving and it rings I don't go looking for it. If it's in the console and easily accessable then I'll answer it. And I keep it short. It's really come in handy...

It COULD come in handy, but what about the other 364 days a year when they're just a pain in the ass?

And think about all the ignorant assholes who drive while talking. rolleyes

My father owns one he rarely uses, only in a situation where, let's say he goes away a couple of days and wants to call to tell me where he is, etc.

I figure, I'll just deal with things like they did back before there were cell phones.
