Shelby is also the name of a country singer's sons name as well btw my daughter is 13. My mom named her and her name means "where god dwells" from the bible( a lady from a store looked this up and made her a gift with her name and the meaning of her name).

Word to the wise: Many of these so-called unisex names on this thread are, in fact, traditionally male names. This cross-pollination in naming of the sexes has gotten so bad I've encountered more than one soul who genuinely believes Madison, Taylor, and the like are exclusively girls' names and always have been. Yeah, 'cause something that literally means "son of" or denotes a traditionally male occupation just screams lace 'n' bows.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a nice name. But I doubt it's from the Bible, as it's pretty clearly not Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, or Latin in sound.
