Hmm, I liked both of the shows. But I probably liked "Mary Tyler Moore Show" a bit more, because "Rhoda" was a spin-off of "Mary Tyler Moore Show". If that makes any sense. lol
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

They were both great. Rhoda was a spinoff, but it deserves credit for forging an identity of its own and not just mimicking the MTM Show. But I'd have to go with Mary just for the sheer number of classic episodes it produced. (I still crack up when I think about the funeral episode: "A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer in your pants...")

When I was a kid, I totally loved the beads Rhoda used in her apartment above Mary's. She used a bunch of hanging beads as a divider for her room, and I thought it was the coolest thing. I was going to be sure to do that when I was an adult, but so far, no, I haven't.

I don't really remember watching Rhoda back then because my family was moving around so much then (like living in Japan for a year). I'm sure both are good but I have a feeling Mary Tyler Moore was better.

I don't know which actress had the better show. But I can tell all of you that Valerie Harper has a better persona. Definitely from the hood, IMO!

Spin-offs were so much better back then Maude, Rhoda, Lavern & Shirley, Good times, The Jeffersons. They were of the same quality as the originals. Last good spin off was Frazier.

It's weird seeing these pictures. She seemed so grown up at the time, since I was a mere child watching TV. But now she looks so young! eek

Wait I get these three...

Rhoda - Mary Tyler Moore
Laverne & Shirley - Happy Days
The Jeffersons - All in the Family

But what were Maude and Good Times spin offs of?

Maude was a spin-off of "All in the Family". Maude was Edith's cousin. She came to stay when all four of them had the flu. Archie and she just ripped each other constantly. lol

Good Times was a spin-off of a spin-off. Florida started off as Maude's maid.

Alice wasn't a spinoff per se. It was a TV serialization based on the movie "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore."
