Isaac Hayes wrote the music for Shaft. He died on August 10th.

I remember last year Mongol didn't open here until the summer after the awards. And the Polish entry Katyn just opened this weekend, an entire year later. Last year's winner The Counterfeiters opened the weekend of the awards. It's hard for the average person to see the nominations in that category.

I liked Queen Latifah's voice on that song. I keep forgetting that she sings...Overalll, I liked how they did the "in loving memory" segment.
