I Admit - I'm A Bakery Addict - LOL

Every time I go to a grocery store, the first department I go to is the Bakery Department. I love looking at all the goodies, even though 9 times out of 10 I'm able to escape without actually buying anything. lol If I didn't have to watch what I'm eating and watch my budget, I'm sure I'd be buying a whole lot of stuff from there. Bakery is definitely my weakness.

Do you have a favorite section of the grocery store where you like to shop, or that you always go to first when you walk into the store?
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I don't have a favorite part of a store...but I love free standing bakeries. There is one back home in Nebraska that I LOVE going to. I can't find places like that around here, in good ole' Oklahoma. giggle

Are the free standing bakeries kind of like those road side stands, where you can buy fruit and veggies from someone's farm?

That is soo not true..

I was in Melbourne a few years ago an I went to a couple of Bakeries (cos' i am a complete pastry addict) and they had just about every pastry you could possibly want smile

I also went to this Pie shop in the Dandenongs which was just drool
Some people are like Slinkies...

They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

MRGee

And supermarkets have such an ABUNDANCE of BREADS,CAKES,PIES, COOKIES. Along with ENTERMANS and all the other Cookies and stuff, some have Dunkin Donuts inside. Where do all the Leftovers go? Well, I found out they go to the POOR/CHURCHES.. Doesn't it seem like such a WASTE?

True, there's always good and bad. Where about in Oz do you live if you don't mind me asking.

in melbourne

AND I took the liberty at looking at the photos you posted in the your city skyline thread and have deducted you are a pom, so in fact our bakeries, mostly derived from yours, should be very nice to you nod

I'm from continental europe, with a rich baking heritage (in my family especially) and when we arrived in this country 1978, all bread was square and white, there was no such thing as crusty rye sourdough etc mad my mum nearly went spare to realise there was no pumpernickel or knäckebröd here.
31 years later, you can get all those things here, but not in an ordinary Australian bakery.

Did you go to Ackland street when you visited Melbourne? I posted some cake shop photos in this thread drool pies and pasties don't do much for me ill
