Remember when I killed that cat on Halloween? It followed me and I didn't know it and when I came out of the store it was in the middle of the street ran over by a car I swear it gave up it's life right in front of me though. It barely looked up at me and that was it. Some kind souls told me that the cat knew it was going to die and it waited to die with someone it felt safe with rather than alone.

Well.....I went to lunch today and there was a cat lying half on the grass and half on the sidewalk. At first I thought maybe it was rolling around in the sun but I got closer and saw a wet spot where it loosed its bladder. As I bent down to make sure if the cat was OK or not it moved it's mouth to meow and I immediately called for animal control. When I bent down to check on the cat again, it was gone. No more breathing.

Is there really something to the notion that a cat would wait for someone safe to come along before giving up the ghost? I don't know if I can handle this I feel so bad and sad for the poor kitties!

I am not sure. I think it has to do with my feelings though. I can cry at the drop of a hat, really. But in these instances I just couldn't go there. I felt a sense of desperation, very dark, and an almost inability to really give those feelings license by expressing them. It's different than sadness or anger but I don't know exactly what to call it.

To see the animal in it's last physical existence has been very jarring. Sobering is the best way I can describe it. I feel like I should receive it as a gift but it's hard to interpret death that way. Although, my cousin has brought me many gifts through her death. Obviously cats and people are different but maybe there is something similar in this and the last and future experiences. I'm sure this will come again. I should really think of this and what it means.....

I can't believe I didn't think of this but when I did my meditation for the first time, we did one on our animal guides and 2 animals came clearly to me. One was a charcoal grey lion and the other was a creature that was feline in nature and absolutely female but not a cat we have on this planet. Again, the male female dichotomy..... an cats. I love cats.
